My motor was on the stand, wedged a huge screwdriver in the flexplate (be careful not to bend it) then took my $7 Harborfreight 1/2" breaker bar and attached a 18" pipe to it, and voila, it came off. Getting the pulley off is another matter itself.
I did basically the same thing but used the largest allen wrench that would fit in the holes to keep my flexplate from moving, then breaker bar and some elbow grease.
The pulley was a pain in the ***, broke a small puller and stripped a big one before buying one of these things and it came right off.
