Default temperature gauge sender

I am installing a 6.0 truck "LS" engine in an '84 Chevy truck and I am wondering if anyone knows if the sender in the 6.0 engine will work with the gauge in the truck. Will it make the gauge read correct? If I check the ohms on the sender at room temperature and again after heating it in boiling water can I determine if both senders are the same? I am not good with electrical stuff.

I don't think the 6.0 temp sensor will work with your gauge.On my 1992 chevy pickup i used acdelco 12551708 3 wire temp sensor with my 5.3 engine.Two wires go to the 6.0 computer and one wire goes to the gauge.Some say it isn't accurate for the gauge but on mine it is right on.

I have some temp senders for mid eighties gm vehicles already turned down to 12MM and re-threaded. I make them on my lathe. $25 shipped. Have 5 ready to ship right now.

Would it be better to install two senders? One for the dash gauge and the other to send the necessary signals to the computer?

Yep, they go in the head that has the plug in it from the factory.
