Borg Warner S480 Turbo L33 5.3 1991 Mustang Notch build update 3/27

I plan to run 18's around town front and back, but not of necessity, rather I already had them and like the look of them. Race day I will throw some smaller wheels and slicks or street slicks on the back.
Everything fit right on the 4 cylinder spindles. Was a very easy swap. Not sure my wheel bearings are good though and not sure they are the right ones for the application. I can't seem to find any information on that aspect.

Little update, got the torque box reinforcements installed. Welded them in, although the welder was being a pain. After giving the gun a good cleaning and replacing everything in it it was back to normal. Been a long time coming.
and got in my rear suspension today!
As well as Summit extended lugs for the front:

Wow, been a minute since I updated. I went to put on my strange struts and coil over conversion kit up front and was shocked to find that it did not bolt up to the 4 cylinder spindles So despite what the vendor (who will remain nameless) told my V8 struts will not bolt up to the 4 banger spindles. I tried even grinding down the mounting pad and then the bottom of the strut hit the bottom of the spindle.
Thankfully I found a guy that sold me some SN95 spindles and MM tubular control arms for $100!!! Huge thanks to Daniel. It was just a random search I did on craigslist. He was tearing down his track car to return to stock. It even had extended wheel studs in it already! I am now trying to track down some calipers and rotors for a reasonable price.
The block came back from the machine shop today where I had them polish the crank and throw the pistons back in for me. The crank probably did not need it, but I figured while I had everything apart for cleaning might as well. So stock pistons, rods and crank are back in along with some new cam bearings for good measure to go along with the new Lunati camshaft.
I managed to pick up a Fbody oil pan, pickup and windage tray on here for a very reasonable $200 plus $20 shipping and that will be going back on for a little more ground clearance. As soon as I get my engine stand back I hope to get the short block built and get things moving again. It has been 1 step forward and 2 steps back lately, but I think I have finally caught up a bit.

Time for an update. I should have the motor built today, cam is in, timing chain done, timing cover and valve covers painted, rear end in the car, front coil overs installed and done, rear suspension done. Motor and trans going in this weekend. Did I mention I have the coolest wife ever who is letting me build the motor in the kitchen with ZERO bitching about it. I love my wife!

Motor is about ready to go in. Couple notes.....if you are thinking about a double roller timing chain realize you will have to clearance a bunch of crap...either the oil pump or the timing cover. The Summit racing timing cover has a LARGE chunk of aluminum in it that I am really not sure of the purpose, but it ALL needs to be ground down to make room for the double roller. If I had to do it over again, I would just omit the double roller chain.
Next note, 80 ft lbs of torque is enough to twist the head off of pretty much any cheap extension. Get an impact extension or a good quality one. Might be good to have a deeper 12 point socket for the studs as well. Mine did ok, but it did start to round one fastener at 80 ft lbs. I may just not have had it on there squarely.
Lastly the big Summit gasket kit does not come with a valley pan cover gasket. My fault for not checking. time to order one of these as well.

S480 is a big son of a gun, how big of an exhaust housing are you going to run? Knowing that the S475's (74mm) are capable of producing 50psi with a 1.32 ar exhaust housing, I'm guessing you will be running a smaller housing in order to build boost faster. Curious, and sweet build.
