I got mine used, so hard to say if they do new or not. There are only provisions for 3 bolts. I forked over the big bucks and spend $30 on ARP stainless motor mount bolts. Interestingly enough the ARP kit only comes with 6 bolts for the LS1 motor kit for some reason...worked out in my case, lol.

I think that if I should need more I will probably start with the upgrade to the 88mm billet wheel. I was talking to the guys at Forced Inductions and they said they have a customer with the 92mm turbine wheel paired to the 88mm compressor wheel and had some great results netting over 1000 at the wheels!

Interesting, the potential on those things is sky high. Another thought would be to see if someone makes a batmo wheel for the s480 which ought to keep the lag down a little compared to going to a bigger compressor wheel. Won't net you as big of a gain but just an option. One of these days I'm going to take my s475 and compound it with an s510 as the atmospheric when i get around to a motor build on my truck.

Actually after seeing this posted up...a test of the batmo wheel vs the as cast off the shelf Borg Warner 80mm wheel, I have my doubts about the batmo....and honestly I have used them in the past, but never back to back with an oem wheel. Compressor test performed by Borg Warner. Looks like they were going to check and see if the batmo was REALLY making more and see why if it was...notice the stamp in the background "Development" haha.

Very interesting, IF I'm reading this correctly this shows that the airflow delivery shifts to a slightly earlier delivery (slightly quicker spool) but then drops off a little as you follow into where the orignal wheel would build and maintain peak boost. While also falling off a bit on the back end. Is this correct?

Potentially I suppose, but only if you are able to spool it to 23 psi before 3000-4000 rpms (at least on a 5.3). I guess on a large Diesel this might be a good thing, but if you look at the link below, this is a 5.3 liter plotted on the S475 compressor map...sorry they didn't have the S480 in match bot but you can see where the dots fall and reference back to the 480 map above. There is pretty much no way that a 5.3 or even a 6.0 would really take full advantage of the area of the map that is expanded. If you look at the second red dot on the compressor map, that is the 5.3 at 20 psi at 3000 rpms. It is theoretically possible to hit this with the 96mm turbine, but highly unlikely without some form of assistance in the way of nitrous. That is the area of the map that the batmo is adding to and the BW wheel is not as efficient. The BW wheel also is slightly more efficient pretty much everywhere on the map except that one area.

Edit: Played around with it some more...a 7.0 liter might be able to take advantage of that spot on the map if they were able to get to 25 psi by 2500 rpms...beyond that I think the only advantage would be maybe a big diesel motor.

Makes sense, I have experience with diesels and turbos not as much with gas. With a stock duramax 6.6 you could easily hit 25 psi by 2500 rpm, just cruising on the highway with the truck set to max effort tuning I run between 10-20 psi with no load. Touching 55psi by the time I get close to 4000 rpm, and my vgt garret has gone into bypass mode and my s475 has taken over(1400* EGTS hehe). Good info sir, always neat to learn new things.

Just a couple update photos from the weekend. As a note, the Advance Auto water pump does not work quite right. Not sure if it was the Summit timing cover AGAIN or the water pump, but the bolts on the back side of the waterpump had to be shaved down to be able to install it as they hit the timing cover. Corvett Water pump, alternator/ps bracket and alternator installed! Little at a time. Also, on the motor, but not pictured, are the C6 manifolds....looks like these may work, but I need to check a couple other manifolds first to see which on will be best.

Got the turbo mounted and determined that I will have to push the radiator back a bit or incline it or both. Just a big turbo!

Well got the muffler to just run it straight out the front fender for now...4" Magnaflow should flow ok!

Well the downpipe is started. Rather than buy the funky vband for the Borg Warner flange, I just welded a 5" standard V-band onto the turbine housing and then a reducer on the other side to neck it down to 4" instead of 5" piping. The largest part of the turbine is only 3.6" so it is still larger than the turbine wheel by a good bit and should flow plenty. This is a temporary downpipe anyways, but I figured it will get me rolling. I also sprayed down the turbine housing with ceramic paint in an attempt to keep it from rusting as bad.

my v-band flange for my gt42 fits perfectly on my buddies s480. what do you mean by funky?

It is not a standard 5" vband, has a weird angle to it. But it is the same as the garrett one.

Little progress.....my welds were just not my best tonight. I have determined that when my fit up is good I can do pretty darn good. When I have to bridge gaps it goes to crap, lol Might have been because I was doing it in the freezing **** cold, but none the less they are there. Coming right along. Just gotta make a couple cuts and get the Magnaflow on there and the downpipe will be done.

This particular s480 is not the cheapest out there, butit is still several hundred less than other comperable turbos.

Well the downpipe is pretty much done other than making a support once I cut out the fender and get it in it's final resting place. I just welded on a 4" magnaflow striaght through muffler. Hopefully I will not be god awful loud!
