Dont waste your money on roller rockers. The stock rocker arms are very good pieces. Put that money towards an overdrive transmission. Why do you want to go Carbureted over fuel injected? The efi route is probably cheaper.

Thats how I was. I put a carburetor on my first 5.3 swap in my 85 cutlass. Ive since switched to an lq9 and went the efi route. The wiring psyches so many people out, but honestly its very simple. There is even a step by step "how to" on lt1swap.com I wish I would have done it from the start. The fuel economy and good driving manners were uncomparable.

double head gaskets? Maybe someone put some metal layered gaskets on there?

The "knock" or "ticky" sound is more than likely lifter noise or a wiped cam. These motors make a little bottom end noise too when they are cold but it doesn't seem to hurt anything.

I just did a swap in a Malibu, if you have any G body questions let me know. That car should be very fast with a converter 4.10s and cam.
