BTW if anyone wants the upr swap plates, I have a set for sale pretty reasonable and only every bolted up once to a plastic block.

I was thinking.. I've helped do a few swaps on GM cars just using adapter plates using clamshell mounts. Why not get a fox K member for SBC, use the really cheap adapter plates and clamshell mounts.

The cost for a LSX or SBC k member is the same.

Ok, So we installed a Team Z on my friends car last night. It was the metal matrix. I was so impressed of the quality and fitment. Every thing from the coil overs to a arms to motor mounts went together flawless.

I will be ordering the team z k member for my car after seeing this. The only other one I have installed befoire was a qa1 like i previously stated and it was junk!

Great to hear! Come to think of it, I have never heard anything bad about Team Z at all. Bob Kurgan was the first guy to tell me about them and he spoke highly of their products.

I'd like to know more about "metal matrix" that they use. If it indeed is an alloy that is closer to 4130 chromoly than mild steel, thats one hell of a deal for a k-member.

Curious if you can run stock control arms with the Team Z?

I just e-mailed Team Z around 7:30pm on a Saturday night, and I got a response back in 6 minutes! Is that customer service or what?!?

Yes, our k-members accept stock a-arms, with modification. When I say modification the arms need the bolt holes drilled out to 5/8" to work with our bolt holes. Also, incase you didn't know, you have to run coil overs with ours as well.

As for dynatech headers, there should be zero problems for clearance as they made their headers around our k-member.

I hope this helps.

Mustang World Team Z is pretty much the highest standard of quality in drag car suspension.

I mean there motto is built by racers for racers

Their Metal Matrix k-member is just a mix of chromoly and mild steel pieces to lower the price. I just bought their front kit and I couldn't be happier. I've heard nothing but bad things about AJE

What bad have you heard about AJE? I have one of the crossmembers and it seems well designed and built.

Fitment and quality are both very inconsistent. I've heard of a few people having to open up some of the holes just to get the thing bolted in

I guess I lucked out as it fit perfect so far. Now the QA1 you have to do that as well as grind bolts down, and it is even in the instructions, lol.

Well, some pictures of the AJE with a mock up motor in the car and the muscle car oil pan. The oil pan hangs down about 1.5" below the k member, but I am ok with that for now. I will have to see how the 4L80E fits in the trans tunnel with current motor placement of the AJE mounts. But, that will have to wait until I can get a friend over to give me a hand wrestling it up into the tunnel. Plenty of clearance from pan to rack, unlike the QA1/4.6 mount combo.

That is going to be way low. Aje has the rack very low on the K member and you are alot lower than the rack.

here is mine with a F body

Pan I got is paid for! I am looking at the Moroso and Holley pans if I end up switching to something else. I doubt it will be another stock pan. Right now I just want to get it running.

So it seems like AJE & Team Z dominate the LS swap k-member market. I really was hoping to hear of some people using the PA racing or UPR k-members.

If anybody has run PA or UPR, please chime in an post pics!

If you have run factory control arms, please let us know if you ran into fitment issues.

I still have not received any info from UPR or PA racing yet after e-mailing them on Saturday night. Team Z replied in 6 mins, lol.

FWIW, I'm running factory 04 cobra control arms with my AJE setup. Also using coilovers, so no spring perchs.
