Little update, i finally got the frame notch for the compressor cut out to find the engine needed to come forward about an inch. I bought the Alan Grove a/c low mount brackets(really nice craftsmanship). I had to take the Dirty Dingo slider engine mount adapters and move the bolts for the slides to allow more forward adjustment. Didn't like the idea of moving weight forward, but IT'S going to have A/C. So, today we got all that done to see the passenger one is going to have to be modified a tad bit more.

It's not real clear in the pic below, but i'm going to have to move the frt. 2 bolts back some more and then cut the forward part of the adapter off to allow the compressor to role in closer to the block on the bottom. Nothing hard just a little fab work.

Hopefully if everything keeps progressing on track, the engine will go to shop over the holiday to get the works. During that time, i'll plate the notch, put the new brake lines on, get the a/c vents in, few other things. I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm eager to hear it, i had Steve Morris to grind a cam(it's specs look healthy).

I got the pass. side mount modified and the compressor bolts up and fits nice. FINALLY, now it's time to pull the engine and send it to get the works done so we can get this thing on it's way to making some noise. I believe i'm finally done with all the major fitment issues and it should start coming together. YES YES YES

Dropped the engine off friday at the machine shop. Should have it back at the end of Jan., then went to Bradco engineering and had Brad to build the converter. It's due on the 15th. Making headway.

Merry christmas to all

I may have missed this but .....
What oil pan are you using?
What plates are you using as in one pic it looks like two plates on pass side?
What headers or manifolds you using?
How far is your passenger head from firewall?
Are you using stock steering setup or rack n pinion?

T

Holley pan
Dirty Dingo sliders (modified)
American racing headers (nice and fit great)
I'm not exactly sure, but it's a gap big enough i'm totally happy, but had to for the low a/c compressor mount position.
91 camaro steering box

Thanks Bob for the x-mas wishes, hope you have a good one yourself.

Can you measure that firewall distance for me when you get a chance? Also how much we're those headers and do you have a part number? I want to move my engine forward but headers will be an issue so I need to find a set that will work for what I want. Damn those headers or around $1200... Ouch maybe not

LMAO, nothings cheap on these things. That's the list. Nick will cut that price by a LOT. They are really nice and tuck up tight. Nobody else that i've seen has merge collectors on theirs without paying extra.

I can't get the measurement until the engine comes back from the machine shop. sorry

Working on the frame notch today. Trying to tie up the loose ends while the engine is in the shop.

Tomorrow i'll weld and dress it up and then the center of the crossmember is going to modded some.

Got word a couple hours ago from the machine shop, " the engine is really clean, no oil tarnish at all. Looks like a really low mileage engine, BUT, we did find one main bearing had a piece of wire in the oil hole that's imbedded in the bearing". That was close.

Been working on the notches and cover plates today. Will post pics later.

The A/C notch is welded up and finished. I also did a small notch for the oil pan. I've got the main plate in and will finish the sides tomorrow.

Now i'll have to repaint all this after i'm done. I really hated to do all this after all the work put into it to get it all painted and looking good. Oh well.

Looking good. Did you have to notch the center with the holley pan?

Yep, because i'm running the engine placement a little bit forward for the A/C compressor low mount. Thanks for the compliment.
