Seeing this makes it hard for me to decide between starting a swap on my E36 or XR4Ti.
Beautiful car!

The stance is awesome...what did you go with to lower it? Sorry if I missed in earlier posts.

They are KW ST coilovers for E39 M5. They can go lower but with this being a fair weather daily I want to retain some civility without crawling over pebbles in the road like an obnoxious *******. They give a good ride, although a bit bouncy over some surfaces.

Wow, never seen one fail like that before - I've always seen them fail at the rubber ring. Was that an OEM part?

ok, there is a happy ending to the story (not that kind of happy ending)

overnighted a balancer from Summit, but because it was ordered after the evening shipping deadline it wasn't going to make it in time. There was just one left locally, so I snagged that and a 3 jaw puller. Unfortunately it was the same aftermarket brand as the one that failed, so I have to install the ACDelco that showed up too late. After scratching my head for a while figuring out how to pull her off, I came up with this:

Started here

Took a lot of wiggling to get everything lined up right

and off

I just so happened to have a spare Goodyear belt laying around so popped that on and buttoned it up:

just in time for this

and this

and most importantly this

I can't seem to get the youtube videos to embed so if anyone can help that'd be appreciated.

a special thanks to my best man, Tim (technician117) who helped immensely throughout the evening (mostly calming my nerves and helping pack the car at the end of the evening).

The End
