Default Initial start (LQ4) bad noises! video

This is an '04 Express Van LQ4 with ~160k. I heard the engine start and run in the yard before the engine was pulled. The harness and PCM have been worked by a couple experienced guys on another forum.

http://youtu.be/wiv4tt5IyOU

This is the 4thish start attempt. They all sound the same. The very first start a lot of fuel got dumped into the engine, enough to send raw fuel out of the tailpipe.

What do you guys think?

Could vats cause that sound???? VATS should have been disabled when the PCM was tuned.

ok so we can rule VATS out! I'm here for you dude let's figure this one out!

From the video it sounds like top end to me

But while we're at it,

we have confirmed fuel due to the "raw fuel" dripping its swag out the tips lol

have you confirmed spark?

Have you checked that the starter is disengaging? also kind of sounds like it's tacking against the flywheel ....
SO MANY POSSIBILITIES!

but yeah check spark

lol but honestly be careful. Get a second opinion before trying this
again, I am not recommending this. I don't find it safe.

Is it running? Might be my phone speaker, but the first video sounds like 8 rods fighting over a quart of oil. Does it have oil pressure? If you dumped that much fuel in the engine, you NEED to change the oil! You've diluted your oil down with fuel and will toast the engine running it like that.

It will not stay running. It had 6 new quarts. Good point on changing the oil now it's been contaminated. I don't have an oil pressure gauge, but the sensor is plugged into the harness and my scangauge isn't showing any codes.

Haven't messed with the engine much. I put on ls3 exhaust manifolds, had the original injectors tested and cleaned, but that's about it.

Either bent a rod due to hydro locking it or maybe loose flywheel bolts.

What kind of noises would a bent rod make when just turning the engine over with the starter?

Are you thinking con rod or push rod?

Pull a valve cover and inspect.

the PCM does not get an oil pressure sender input. The signal goes directly to a gauge. get a gauge on it. DO NOT START IT AGAIN.

To me it sounds like the bottom end is pissed right the hell off.

Well That sounds exactly like my Nephew's car after he hydrolocked his motor and actually broke #7 connecting rod. I suggest taking a compression check

Thanks for the input guys. Tomorrow evening I'll do a compression test, and try to take a look at converter/flywheel bolts. Will report back.

Huge exhaust leak? (just tryin to think simple and easy haha) My loose torque converter bolts sounded like a intermittent rod knock. That sounds like its knockin every revolution... Check everything and get a oil pressure gauge and get a automotive stethoscope and check stuff to see where exactly the knocking is commin from. You could pull valve covers and make sure everything is still there ha. What ever it is it sure sounds pissed off.
