Default 69 Camaro LSX Swap

Hi, I just sold my 383 stroker and bought an LQ4 6.0. I am in the process of installing it. Before I actually drop the motor in, I was wondering how difficult it would be to swap the Lq4 inake to an LS3 intake. What would I have to change if I do this ? Also, would I really be gaining anything other than a little cleaner look under the hood ? I'm new at this LSX stuff but I have always been intrigued by it. When I pulled my stroker out I knew there was no going back. Now I just need some technical advise from LS1 Tech.

Thanks for any help/advice you can give me. I will post some pics tomorrow.

i beleive all you would have to do is change the heads on the engine, the lq4 should have catherdral port heads, LS3 intake should have square head ports, so you have to change them to LS3 heads or heads that have sqaure ports, if im not mistaken

I assume it has a truck intake ?

If so, take a look HERE before you swap it out.

Here are some pics of the swap. The intake is going to be a tight fit when the hood goes back on. Also, what type of long tube headers would work best? I'm looking at a pair of Hookers and a pair of Stanless Works. Im running my original solid mounts with Dirty Dingo adapters.

This is my 383 coming out, and the 6.0 being test fitted.

In the mock up pics the engine had the stock truck pan on it. Its soooo close to fitting, but its just a little to deep up towards the front of the pan. I can get the passenger side motor mount bolt in, but the driver side is up about 1/2" to high from hitting the crossmember in the subframe. I picked up a swap pan off ebay, and it should be here this week.

I also have the tank coming in this week, along with some braided line and fittings. I also got the firewall heater box mounted up (it's the heat only swap box for original a/c cars).

Update : I just got the tank today. Looks real nice. The aftermarket oil pan will be here on Friday. Its starting to come together fast. The oil pan is the following :
LS ALUMINUM OIL PAN FABRICATED REAR SUMP 69 CAMARO . I bought it off ebay. I'll post more pics on Friday.

ls1/ls6 intakes bolt right up. lq4 throttle bodys also bolt right up to the intake. from what i understand you can also use an ls2 intake but you need to change throttle bodys because they use 4 bolts to mount instead of 3. i just swapped an ls1 intake on my lq4, hoping to have pictures up either tonight or tomorrow.

Update:

Got the pan installed on the engine, with long tube Hooker headers installed as well. Test fit done (Everything fits!) and all looks good.

I bought a LS1 intake for cheap of craigslist, but it doesnt have injectors or rails. I have decided to use the stock truck rails and injectors for now, but I have a quick question. Is there a way to change the crossover between the two truck rails? It sits way to high on top of the LS1 intake. I'd like to run an AN line between the two if thats possible.

I've also heard that sometimes a cable throttle body will clear the truck water pump, but I've also heard it wont. Any ideas? I planned on changing the water pump and getting some spacers, but if I dont have to that be great.

Thanks!

You should be ok with the ls1 intake and truck accessories. I think you just have to move the idler to the bolt under the alternator and trim the bracket some. As for the fuel rail I guess you could braze some fittings on there or somethin but its probably be a lot easier to just find a ls1 rail. Nice lookin car btw
