Awesome build and definitely quality work! I'm trying to wrap up an LS1 swap in a '70 GTO right now, but I'm taking notes for dropping a 5.3 into my '79 Firebird next.

I saw you have 1" setback plates with f-body oil pan and accessories and didn't require any cutting (other than for the M6). Do you know if your steering box any different than a normal power steering unit that would affect clearance?

What throttle cable are you using, and where did you find that dash panel?

Keep the pictures coming!

I have plenty of clearance at the steering box. I am using the Lokar 36" cable, and I bought the dash panel from a guy on ebay....it is aluminum and fit perfect. I paid like $90 for it.

Here is a short exhaust clip. I still need to get the car tuned...the idle is high and it is running a little rich. This is with the 3" Stainless Works exhaust. I am liking the tone of the mufflers.[IMG][/IMG]

That sounds damn good, I'm going to have to go back now and see what cam that is.

Edit; says MS4 cam, I didn't think it sounded that aggressive.

It should sound better once it is tuned...idle is probably around the 1000 rpm range.

wow! everything looks fantastic!
in your parts list you listed radiator hoses as,
Upper radiator hose...NAPA Gates 22352 $20
Lower radiator hose...NAPA Gates 20734 $13,
but it looks like you went a different route?
if I'm right about that, then is that radiator hose setup an "off the shelf" part or something you had to fabricate. also where can i find those hose clamps your using?I'vee seen them at a car show before but have never came across them.
And do you have hose adapters on the 1 1/4'' water pump nipples?
thanks

Yes those radiator hoses are the ones I used to connect the polished tube. I bought a piece of polished stainless and had a 90 bent in it. The gates heat shrink clamps are available at my local O'Reillys....Jegs and Summit also sell them.

The car looks phenominal. Very nice work. The gauge panel turned out really good and I like the exhaust routing. How do you like the Spectre CAI? Those heat shrink hose clamps are interesting - I'll have to take a look at those.

I love the cold air intake......it actually is a functioning kit, that is hard to accomplish on these older cars.

Now for the bad news......the guy tuning my car over revved it and broke an intake valve...dropped it into the cyl....and busted a hole in #2 cyl..

Question I have is when the oil gets picked up by the oil pickup, does it go through the filter first, or the motor? I am trying to see if I need to replace all my bearings, or just concentrate on #2 cyl. Thanks I will post up pics when I get a chance.

Oh no what a nightmare!

The oil flows to the filter first, but if you have a hole in the block I would think you need to go through the whole thing regardless. How do you plan to repair the hole? Did you snap any photos of the carnage?
