96 mustang swap help
i have an ls1 with a ls6 intake already in the car. i have been trying to find some ls1 accessories but have had no luck locally. i heard you can use truck accessories but nobody has a clear answer what to do to make them fit properly. if you have the accessories for sale or some tips on what accessories to use, let me know.
Ok, so I have been reading up on this and everyone tells me it's not possible but I wanted to try it ayway. I have a 5.3 with an LS1 intake and the whole process was extremely easy. I did not change any accesories but did have to modify two small things.
1- front coolant crossover tube. I cut part or the small tube off that feeds the truck throttle body and capped it....total time...5 minutes..3 waiting for compressor to fill.
2- Water neck and throttle body interference. The cruise control tab on the throttle body lightly contacted the water neck so i cut it off since I won't need cruise. The cable cam still had a very tight clearence to the neck so for peace of mind I simply put a small dent in the neck to make some wiggle room. Total time...MAAAYBE 10 min.
I used truck hardware on the intake and cut the tabs off of the MAP sensor to make it fit. I am only using an alternator so my accesories are limited so keep that in mind. Check the pictures for more info and let me know if you want another.

Also, nevermind the belt in the last picture...I was just messin around!

are you going to run the alternator in stock location or are you using custom mounts. if you use all the accessories what else would you need. i seen something about the idler relocation bracket
As for the second question I am actually not sure what all you would need to change. Most who do the swap go with a new water pump for the front facing outlet like on an F-body. The problem with that from what I have read is that the accessories will not line up since the truck/f-body/vettes all have different pulley spacing from the front of the engine. If you change the damper pulley, you will need to change the tensioner to line the belt back up. Luckily the trucks and camaros have a very wide water pump pulley and you may be able to get away with not having to buy a new pump. What you need really depends on what accessories you plan to go with.
When I did my swap I used the truck accessories, moved the alternator to the passenger side, and put a Camaro water pump on with the truck pulley. I had a 6 liter from a truck so I used what came with it.

Ran fine, no belt slip, spun engine to 6800.
