I did get this done the other day. I think I'm not going to use the console shifter and try to make a bracket to hook the shift cable up to the column linkage

I made a bracket to hook up the shift cable to the column. I found out the blazer cable mounts different on the trans end than the silverado so I'm going to have to get a blazer cable bracket to make that work.

Tonight I got the center console mounted and mounted the 4x4 buttons in there too. Also the 02 mirror was a direct swap too. Just a few wires and the compass should work

Also stuck some old speakers behind the seat along with the jack and tools out of the 02 The storage buckets are out of a dodge ram

I finally started on the wiring tonight and got a good chunk of it done. Main thing so far is getting the automatic transfer case wired up. I mounted the module on the drivers kick panel and the switched in the overhead console.

Also ran the wires for map lights and the auto darkening mirror

After twisting a few wires together over the past few days I got the fusebox all wired up and hit the key and it fired right up the first time. I had it running for a while to get warmed up and make sure the fans work and everything was fine. Only had one small leak at a line on the hydra boost. I guess I should replace the 30 year old o ring. I still have to run wires for the dlc, cel, speedo, and lights for the 4x4 buttons. And then I can clean up all the wiring and make it look halfway decent. I'm happy it runs but it's not halfway done. Still have a lot of work to do.

After a few hours of working on it today I managed to get a gauge cluster put together. I ended up cutting out the 82 cluster for the elec speedo head and put it and all the 91 gauges in there with led bulbs. Then had to run wires for power and ground for the speedo and vss. Also mounted the dlc and wired it in. Spent most of the time fixing the blower motor. Ground was no good on motor, high speed relay was shorted to ground, and the fan speed switch contacts were corroded so much thy wouldn't make contact, so that was a bunch of fun fixing. After all that I drove it around the block again and the speedo works and seems to be halfway accurate, cel works, and plugged in my scanner and that works too. Only wiring left to do is for the a/c then I can tidy up my wad of wires.
My helper wasn't much help

The dash is all finished now. All the stock gauges work. I put a new dash pad on it and swapped a new style steering wheel

Also got the air conditioning wired up and working.

I think it still needs another can of freon but 58 isn't too bad for idling in a garage with just the fans on

Heater works too

Ingot some more work done on the truck. It's really close to being finished. All of the wiring under the hood is all done and loomed and taped up permanently. After I did all that I realized the hood hinge folds down right where I had the fusebox mounted so that had to be moved. Luckily the wiring was long enough to mount it on the firewall so that didn't turn out too bad. I also got the remote start mounted and installed. I still have to wire up the relays for the door lock actuators. Last thing I got accomplished is taking the stock 2" blocks out of the rear so it will set level. I think it looks a lot better that way

It's actually going back together petty easy so far. Tonight I got the relays for the door locks built and hooked up. Got my junkyard door jamb wire grommets installed then hung the doors and mounted the actuators and ran the wires and now I have keyless entry and remote start.

Ill probably hold off on the power windows for a while. I want this finished soon but I do have the parts so it will get them eventually.

Got the seat cover put on tonight. That was a pain trying to hold it on there and tie all those damn strings to the seat frame but it didn't turn out too bad. Also put on the underhood light off a 90s truck. I wired it to a hood switch too so it will be on with the good open.

Ive always thought swapping my 84 body onto a later frame. But it will be on a 2WD truck though. That way you get all the capalbilites of the new truck and looks of the old.

Thanks man. What's the wheelbase on the Tahoe? Might not har to cut the frame on that one

Yeah that's what I want. An old truck that runs and drives like a new one.

Very cool, I have visions of doing a similar project with a 73-91 Suburban on a later frame. Who knows if I will find the time.

Yeah a suburban would be cool. I'm sure the newer ones are close to the same wheelbase. I've always wanted to do a 3+3 but they're hard to find in good shape

Their is one inch diff between tahoe and 70 chevy wheel base. I believe the tahoe is 116 in. I need to sell my 4.3 tracker before I start this project.

An inch is nothing. If you can center the body a half inch on each end wouldn't even be noticeable. Definitely sell the tracker though lol.

More on my truck tomorrow hopefully. I'm in the middle of mounting the bumpers and finishing up a few little things and it should be done.

Got some used emblems for $8 shipped off fleabay and plasti dipped them and peeled off the letters. Didn't turn out too bad I don't think.
