If you want to keep the stock look, Call the guys at Shift works. They sell a kit that will convert the stock GM shifter by putting new detents in it, so it will work with a GM A4 trans. Here is a link for your car:

B&M Quicksilver. I wanted a ratchet shifter in lieu of a gate style. The stick is too long for my taste, though, and I rather prefer the look of the Hammer. B&M says they require kit #75498 when using with a PRNDL switch, though mine seems to be running fine without.
