Default 2nd Gen F-body LSx header suggestions needed

Yo, I'm in the process of dropping a LS motor in my '79 TA. Looking for suggestions on which long-tube headers (1 7/8 preferred) will work best...budget is important here also

Dynatech has the musclemaxx headers, but they are close to $600/set now.
I believe Kooks also makes a set, but they are in the $900/set ballpark.

Any others out there that will provide good fit and not break the bank (albiet small bank) in the process?

I know you are under a budget...but we all are in reality. You cannot go wrong with Kook's from Bob at Brutespeed. He is second to none in customer service and has a sweet deal right now for LS1Tech'rs. You won't find them any cheaper and the quality is phenomenal.

Shoot me a PM and I can tell you at least one not to go with...haha.

I put Edelbrock full-length muscle car LSx headers in mine. They fit very well, and I have yet to scrape them on the ground. My car is lowered a couple inches, so this is no small feat. Highly recommended.

Edelbrock no longer makes headers...you may be able to scrounge up a pair but it is unlikely.

Heddman Hedders makes a whole line of lsx swap headers....
priced from Just under $600 and up...
I think the 45150's might fit your build....2nd gen, lsx swap headers.
summit has them for around $585

Hedman makes the headers for BRP. You have to be careful which mounts you use them with. If you use mounts that do not move the engine back a bit, you will generally have issues mounting the headers because of how they route the tubes. If you don't mind notching the frame then this becomes a non-issue. Also, the Hedman's I have had hang the collectors a little too low for my liking.

Hooker also sells swap headers, cheap....but I am not sure they cover 2nd gen F-bodies yet. My issue with Hookers is their collectors hug the floorboards nicely, but they are pitched up a bit. I have an issue with cutting brand new headers to rework them especially if I had them ceramic coated.

Thanks,
Dave
