Default Best LS1 candidate for a drift car?

I do NOT want a 240! I have a drift built E36 and planning to do the LS1 swap over winter, but cant quite commit yet. I keep thinking I could build something cooler, just not sure what. Lets hear some ideas!

My thoughts were:
s-10 (bad weight distribution)
c-10 67-72 (heavy, expensive sheet metal)
2wd tahoe (heavy)
volvo 242 (not much aftermarket support)
280z (many are rusty)
???

89-94 toyota pickup. My weight distro' is ~60/40, likely will be better after the 8.8 swap. And they look great.

Old Mercedes 280c would be neat.

Old Mercedes would be cool. I like the fd cars too, but they are so damned expensive! If I could find a roller under 2g's I would be all over it. If I was gonna do a truck, it would be one of the trucks in my first post. I love the c10body style. Keep the ideas rolling in

How about a full on drift Gremlin or Pacer? That would be different!

My mom had a Gremlin with a 401 AMC in it. You could almost drift it from the factory. Was probably nose heavy but I was too young to care about such trivial matters, besides it would do better burnouts with all the weight on the nose.

I was thinking a Hornet fastback, but a Pacer would be "cooler".

I think the c10 body style is sweet too. It would definitely be different. It might be hard to make that chassis work though

LOL, I have a CTS-V that goes to the drift track whenever I have $$$ to burn (18" tires are expensive).

Gremlin and pacer would be cool, but they are soooo short. It would be impossible to control the drift at high speed. Im not that good yet!

My vote is for a 242 but that may be because I'm building one. Aftermarket isn't too bad if you know where to look and you want the nitty gritty race parts.

G bodies.. fairly light for a full frame car, factory disc up front, lots of aftermarket suspension support, engine bays are huge. Gutted G bodies (no ac, heat, ps, interior, coilovers etc) can weigh around 3100 lbs.

Much as I dislike Ford's, a Fox body would be a very inexpensive base and the suspension aftermarket is there. Everything you need is already out there, no need for much custom fab work. You could build Mustang for next to nothing and very quickly....

That would be my recommendtion if your wanting to build on a budjet and still be competitive. If you go with something different, theres going to be alot more work and expense. But you will have something different....
