its been awhile. and my bad luck strikes again. got the new motor together. ran great, only to find metal shavings again. seems like something is wrong with the journals on the cam and its eating the cam bearings up. got a few good pulls in though. Had the car on 10psi for awhile. Now im on 12 and im in the process of wiring up the boost controller.

exhaust gets dumped in front of the rear axle

well havent touched the car itself at all this summer. but i have been working on a new motor for it. An aluminum 5.3 gen 4 rods and pistons balanced rotating assembly, ported 243 heads should be done and running again by the end of february.

I'm in the process of doing a 5.3 swap myself, and after reading your thread it kinda scares me lol. The car is in really good condition no rust or anything, but I'm just a little apprehensive about the whole process.

What are you afraid of? The swap itself is very easy

Mainly the wiring, and the fabrication. I see you have made a lot modifications as far as fabbing for yours.

Yes I did a lot of extra fan that isn't needed. And the wiring isn't that bad. It may look confusing at first but just get some wiring diagrams and dive in. Label all your wires

That's what I thought as well. Everything seems a lot more difficult if you're not physical doing it. Did everything else pretty much just bolt up? Like the k member to the motor etc?

Upr motor mounts needed the holes opened up a bit to get everything to line up properly. There a pain to install and take part IMO not the end of the world tho. And doesn't seem like the powdercoating isn't holding up very well. Haven't driven the car much. And already has some that on the Kmember

What would you say was the hardest part about the swap?

There is nothing hard about it really. The swap itself is just like putting a normal engine in. Since you can buy everything to swap it. Everything will just bolt together for the most part. If you wanna do it that way. You can even buy pnp harness so a swap can be as easy or as hard as you wana make it

Well that really makes me feel a lot better about the whole situation. I was under the impression that their would be a lot of fabricating involved.

havent posted in forever. car has been up and running all summer. the aluminum 5.3 is doing great car made 560whp on 13-14psi and low timing. its now on 16psi and 20 degrees timing. will be turning it up to 18psi once i get a chance. it went a best of 10.3 at 136 on the 14psi and a 1.5 60 foot. havent been to the track since i turned it up and dialed the tune in. messed with the 4 link and have the car leaving on 12psi off the transbrake on the street. but like i said havent been to the track yet. heres a bunch of pictures and videos
