lq4 swap plans & problems
Hey everyone, newbie to ls1tech... i go on this forum everyday and i finally registered.... anyways ive got a 2002 blazer extreme that i traded for and i have plans to do a lq4 swap..... upgrades will be....
lq4 block .030 over
wiseco pistons
callies compstar h beam rods
stock crank
ls3/l92 heads
ls3/l76 intake... port matched tb/ cable driven
custom cam... unsure maybe 22x's/23x's .58x/.59x 114lsa exhaust bias?
revised comp 918 springs
ls2 timing chain
arp hardware
h3 oil pan kit
cpw wiring harness/ecu
gmpp accessory drive system (paceperformance)
upgraded 4l60e
stock rear end for now
qa1 suspension
caltracs
im sure im missing a few things that i have planned but my biggest issues is finding headers for s10 swaps with ls3/l92 style heads.... can anyone point me in the right direction??? Also any other pointers or tips or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. I know it will not be a weekend project... probably be 2 years to complete everything so bear with me to see finished project... thanks in advance

You should have no problem putting down over 400 rwhp with that setup. Make sure you get the compression over 10:1 though. Also, what MAF are you going to run and what throttle body? I assume you are going drive by cable.

Okay so i need compression to be 10 to 1. would that mean milling the heads? and if so what would be my pushrod length? yes i will be running a cable throttle body 90mm. i believe that is what the ls3 intake is if i am not mistaken, unsure of the maf yet

If you went with the LQ9 type flat top that should put you around 10.5 I would think. From what I've read the only diff between LQ4 and LQ9 are beefier rods and flattops...hence the 9.4 vs 10.5 compression diff.
Also, you could use a thinner head gasket for a few extra points worth of compression and not have to mill heads....just some ideas.
