Default Spring rate with LS

I'm rounding up more parts for my conversion. On a buying spree so It's on to shocks and springs... Anyone know what spring rate to go with?? I'm leaning to a QA1 coil over conversion, unless anyone has a better tried and tested setup. They run about $450.00 with single adjustable shocks. I have a 69 Convertible Camaro with all aluminum LS from a 2002 camaro with a 4L60E trans, Aluminum radiator, Vintage AC, Stock subframe, Tubular upper & lower control arms. I talked with QA1 and they reccomend either 400 or 450 LB spring rate. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions.

I think they are about right on. Ride Tech has pretty good reference chart on their website. I used it when building my rear mounting brackets.

I'm leaning towards the 400# springs, was considering 350# but might be a bit too light. I think the 450s are going to be a bit heavy. I was hoping to find someone with a similar build. I have to get something to set the car on the ground, won't know if I made the right choice til I get everything together I guess. Thanks Guys. Worst case, I might be selling a set of 400 # springs some day.

I don't know much about much but I am putting an LS3 in my 69 camaro and I ordered 400# springs yesterday. With just making my best educated guess and going with the guy from Summits' best guess we came up with 400# would be about right.

Due to being unibody, my car's actually lighter than your Camaro. I have an RCM front clip with M-II suspension, tubular control arms, all aluminum LS (carb'ed), 200R4 auto, alum radiator, A/C, etc. QA1's recommendation is prolly OK, I like my 450#'s and wouldn't change them.

Thanks for the detailed Info. Good to know. I talked to a local guy about this with a hdtp 69 camaro and he took the 450s out and put 400s in. He's still got the 450s if I need them. 350s will for sure be too light. I can start out with his 450s and go from there. A conv. is heavier than a hdtp so they might be fine for me as well. Good looking Maverick by the way! That was my 1st car. Inexperienced driver and wrecked it of course...

If you get a chance, let me know what you think of the 400s when you get them installed. Thanks.

I just ordered 450# springs for my QA1 fronts going into a full weight 1970 GTO with LS1/4L60e after talking to the guys at UMI. I placed the order with 350# fronts and the tech emailed me to be sure I was sure. He was recommending 500# - 600# fronts for a "pro-touring" car, but this is just going to be a cruiser with some new technology horse power and quality ride is important.
