Default ac box

It looks like a PITA and expensive but it really isn't just lengthen a line and make one new line. The hardest part is glassing the heater box to fit the larger evap.
Or just cut the ls style fittings off the evap and have them welded to the ford evap like i did.. Cost me 20.00

For my setup I used a sanden ac compressor, fox evap stuff under the dash, 4cyl fox condensor, generic accumulator mounted in the fenderwell and custom built ac lines and a stock 4cly liquid line. Came out pretty good imo and blows rediculously cold, even is Florida's hot muggy climate.

Nice setup. Is the accumulator mounted forward of the shock tower or behind it?

Forward the shock tower. You can kinda see it right at the end of that 45 on the line off the compressor.

Gotcha, yeah that gets tricky when you flip manifolds around backwards, lol. Which factory ac line are you trying to re-use? The 4cyl mustang liquid line can be retained if you use a 4cyl condensor. Thanks for the compliment btw.

I have no clue why I said a/c line. I meant to type the factory a/c mounting bracket.

It'll be all custom lines.

I hope to get my car home next month( I leave for work in the gulf tomorrow night) and start tearing into it. It's still at my buddies shop for now.

I know this is an old thread, but any of you have to do any ecu mods to keep the motor from stumbling/dying when you kick the ac on.

Good thing I stumbled across this thread.

I have a 79 Mercury Zephyr that I would really like to retain A/C on. It currently works on the car and I am unsure of what I can save or what needs to be changed when I swap the engine. Guess I will cross that bridge when I get there.

I know this is a super old thread but this is definitely my car now. Super cool looking through all the paper work.

So the calypso green Fox that used to belong to geoff17 is now your car? If so, do you still get those 24F vent temps? I used to get 40F with my R134a converted 1991 GT. It was ice cold and nothing ever froze up.

I had to rebuild the AC in my 2002 WS6 Trans Am in Dec 2020. All new components with the exception of the evaporator. I pulled a good vacuum on the system. Vent temps are a little disappointing at 45F, however, it keeps me cool and comfortable in the Houston summer heat.

Most of my 1991 GT’s AC system is going in my LS376/480 swapped, 91 Fox coupe. I’m hoping for 40F vent temps.

yes I do own Geoff’s car now which has since been named sandy. The a/c system will still freeze you out at least it did the last time I drove it . I don’t have any actual temps to show at the moment the car is currently being torn down for a rebuild. Tune went lean and blew out 6 pistons

Oh ! Sorry to hear about the lean tune and damage!

Thank you for confirming that you now own what used to be Geoff's car with the ice cold air conditioning.
