1987 Dodge Ram Built 370 swap.
I am about to start my 87 D150 project. I've had this truck since I was 14. Put about 40k miles on it and I think its time to do a little updating.
At the moment it has a 360 bored .030, keith black flat tops, eagle forged rods, edelbrock intake, holley carb, long tubes, MSD 6a ignition, built 727 with a procheetah valve body.
Now whats going into it.
2005 GM LQ4
Bored .030 *370* ci
SNS Stage 2 Torquemaster
TSP Ported 5.3 Heads 58cc appx 12.2:1 compression
TBSS Intake w/ ported 90mm tb
LS7 Maf 100mm
Pacesetter longtubes
3.5" cutout
Fully Balanced rotating assembly
LS7 Lifters w/ ls2 lifter trays
LS2 Rods w/ ARP 2000 Bolts
built 4L60E
Vigilante 3000 stall.
Custom driveshaft 74 1/2" 4" Aluminum w/ 1350 yokes
Eaton True Trac diff w/ 3.92 gears
Mickey Thompson E/T Streets 275/50/15
Caltracs
Fiberglass Lift off hood
20 Gallon Race Fuel cell-Walbro 255 Inline pump
Possibly 100 shot of N20?
I picked up the lq4 short block for $250 bucks and the trans w/ stall for $500.
The entire truck will be rewired to a gm harness out of my old 2002 camaro.
LS1 Radiator and fans. S10 V8 engine mounts. the_merv will be building the harness and also doing the tuning.
silverz28camaro has been gracious to share his knowledge of this swap. So kudos to him!
This will be a slow build. Just taking my time and doing little oddball things here and there.
Heres a few goodies that I already have for it. My 2002 z28 became the donor car for most of this.
Also not pictured is a TBSS Intake w/ a 90mm tb
Heres what im starting with. Yes the stickers are off the back window and no it wont get painted. Hillbilly sleeper?
Heres the interior all tore up.
Old tired 1978 mopar 360. It still runs strong but time for an update.
Fbody wiring all broken down.
Stock wiring mess.
Took the front clip off to do some updating and painting. It will get a fiberglass hood. Stock hood is a monster.
Did a little work on the fender wells.
Modifying the core support to accept Fbody radiator and fans.
This is my current point in my project.

Ahh yes. 2wd is so light. This truck should be around 3800lbs. When its done. The lq4 is 2lbs heavier than the factory 6cyl that came in these trucks. Then with a fiberglass hood I'm going to try to get it down to 3800 with me in it.

thanks! I'll eventually get to the actual swapping part sooner or later. I'm just doing misc body stuff at the moment while I get some funds together. Then I'll get into the meat and potatoes of the build.

Keep the pics coming man!!! Take your time and this will be a killer truck!!
FWIW I weighed my truck the other day...I have the aluminum 5.7 in mine with 4wd and it tipped the scale just at 4060, not bad I though for 4x4, yours will be lighter and sit lower so you should be well under 4,000.

picked up 2 good rust free doors with power options. along with good door panels. only paid $50. Also managed to get a grille and grille shell for free.
I'm probably not going to paint these, or if I do they will get painted black. Not to concerned if it color matches lol

my new sweet tan/brown doors. im debating on if i should paint them or leave them like this. i was very surprised with how good of shape these were in. passenger side has a slight wrinkle in the skin but nothing to serious.

Yeah these doors came with a decent set of tan power door panels. I'll just paint them black and put my red inserts in them. I was surprised they had newer window motors that still worked as well. The only weather stripping they need is the scraper pieces but rock auto has those. My old door panels the back plastic was broke because of improper removal. These are so hard to find.

hmm i never even thought of that. I have a backup window motor I got off rock auto for $20 incase one of them decides to **** itself. I love how fast the windows go up and down on these trucks. Do your power locks work? Mine don't. The passenger side is really weak.

Looks great! Should haul *** when it's done.
Any more info on the gorgeous B5 Audi in the background? My friend had a 2001.5 Stage 3 B5 S4 in Santorin Blue, with white leather inside, and straight piped. That thing pulled so hard and made the sounds to back it up.
