Great job on the videos. Your console is going to be badass when it's complete. I just got mine back from upholstery and absolutely love it. Keep up the good work.

This looks really really cool! And similar to what i am attempting.
I bought the OBD2 Link that Palmer Performance sells with their "Dashboard" app for windows. I am worried about one thing. Can you get the vss to display the odometer and not just the speed as well?

I'll be watching this. I bought a 10" Motorola Xoom with every intention of mounting it in the dash of my Nova. A comparable head unit with built in storage, Bluetooth, and video display was 600 or more on eBay. I picked up the Xoom factory refurbished from Motorola for 200. 32 gigs of storage, 10 inch display, built in 3G from Verizon, GPS and app support is infinitely more capable than any current head unit. A 2 channel amplifier can be used to power the entire cars audio as long as its nothing extravagant.

Now if only I could use it to control the A/C and heat I could eliminate all of the dash *****. I'm sure its possible, since a lot of newer cars use the same setup with a USB output controlling solenoids in the dash. My 2013 Dart has this feature.

I am not trying to highjack this thread, but I plan on doing something similar with a Galaxy Note tablet based on input from a local stereo shop. The thing lacking with the tablet is a way to adjust the volume for your stereo. It may be different with the Xoom tablet, but with the Galaxy tablet you have to run the audio out signal to an Equalizer to control the volume and boost the signal. Instead of spending a $130 on an EQ I just bought head unit that has bluetooth. It cost a little more, but I can also stream the music to the stereo versus hard wiring it to the EQ.

Let us know how it looks in bright daylight. I've seen some LCD screens look completely blank with too much ambient light...

I have been using my XOOM for some time now.. the larger screen (over a smartphone) is much better. But I still have issue with Sun light and glare.

Been using Torque Pro and many of the add-ins. Still have not used all of the features... but fun playing with it.

let me know how yours turns out for you.

Intended placement and window tint goes a LONG way in fighting glare. There are screen protectors that also do wonders for glare.

Thats what I have also, the others wouldn't work on my F-150. Sometime need to clear codes....lol
