Default "Public Enemy" 1968 Camaro Build

What's up guys? I'm not to familiar with LS engines but I have recently decided to drop one in my 68 Camaro project. I also have a 70 Nova and a 84 El Camino that I will eventually drop a LS based engine in. I've been dealing with carbed small blocks for to long and I'm hoping to gain some knowledge from everyone on this site to make my conversion to the LS world as painless as possible.

Here is how she looks now. Just recently had the quarter panels and tail panel replaced. I plan on getting the full drivetrain installed and operating before I take the car to the body shop to get the royal treatment (The drivetrain will come back out for that of coarse)

Picked up this running 5.3L from my grandfather. Came out of a 2004 Chevy Tahoe.

And this is how she looks now......

LS1 intake sanded smooth and painted satin black

Holley black anodized fuel rails with black braided fuel line

GMP cast aluminum valve covers painted satin black

March Performance "Pro-Track" serpentine kit w/o power steering in black powder coat. Also painted the water pump to match

GMP Muscle car oil pan kit painted satin black

Trans Dapt Engine mounts

I haven't done anything to the engine internally. After the car is on the road I am going to start a high hp LQ9 build for her

Looks like your already a LSx guy from what you got going.. nice work..

That Muscle pan is going to hang below the Crossmember.. if your going to lower the car. your asking for trouble.

Are you going with headers..?

Thanks BC! I was a little concerned about the pan after bolting it up. I have DSE 2" drop springs on the front currently. Do you know how far the pan sits below the factory fbody subframe?

I haven't decided on what headers I want to run but I have been close to ordering the hooker darkside (black ceramic coated) headers a few times lol...do you have any suggestions/recommendations?

If you do have issues with your oil pan being too low, there’s a Holley Pan that works awesome and is made for first gens. Holley 302-2 is the PN. Engine looks great!

If you are using the stock truck pan, it will hang about 3-4" below the crossmember.

The OP hasn't posted in almost 3 years now. Shame too because this was looking like one sweet ride.
