So, who's going to be the first to do the new 6.2L LT1 swap?

It's an all new engine with a all new harness an ecu, the price will probably be little higher then a ls3 crate, if I have to guess if GM does a DI crate engine they will probably offer a 5.3l truck engine tuned up just a little for a little less then a ls3 crate IMO

Just take a look at the VVT technology in the L99 and L92 motors for example. Not all shops have the knowledge to do it. As I understand it the new LT1 will be VVT along with the high fuel pressure of direct injection. Then there is decoding the software. Just a whole lot to learn.

It's an all new design with more expensive components, that's like saying that the new stingray vette will cost the same as a base C6 and I'll bet a paycheck that doesn't happen.

The starting MSRP? Just $51,995 USD.
That’s just $1,400 more than the outgoing model. Pretty impressive, considering that the Corvette Stingray represents GM’s latest in performance technology, with a plethora of all-new standard equipment that the C6 doesn’t come close to matching, such as a seven-speed manual with Active Rev Matching (ARM), a more powerful yet more efficient V8 engine in the 450 hp LT1, a configurable digital IP, Chevy MyLink infotainment, and two seat options — each with magnesium frames. There’s also the all-new aluminum frame that’s 99 pounds lighter and 57 percent stiffer than the previous frame on the base Corvette.

1. There have been a few posts floating around that the PCM is fully tunable and that HPTuners and others have already cracked it.
2. GM said they would not release a crate engine until a wiring harness was available to go with it.
I'm sure the "I have to be the first to do this" folks will spend lots of money, but eventually this will be a common swap.

BMW's n54/n55 engines are direct injection and the bigger power numbers are coming from people that put a traditional FI set up on it. The pressure in DI is so high so it can spray into a combustion chamber directly on the compression stroke.

the after market for DI should pick up. As far as turbo/supercharging goes should be about like the common rail diesels are bigger fuel pump to up line pressure an higher flow nozzles imo

your right just 1400 over the OUTGOING model, keep in mind the new BASE model isnt going to have leather interior, to get the Leather its 7k MORE, so in REALITY to get the new vette with leather that the old one came with standerd is going to be a 8400 dollar difference.
Basicly GM did what everyone has been wanting for years which was design a completly new luxery interior, however they want you to pay for it, and for those that dont they have now made a cheep *** interior worse than the outgoing for those who never really gave a **** lol

$1400 isn't the same, but it's only 2.6%, close enough for me
