If you don't want to buy a h3 oil pan and are handy with a welder, you can run your factory pan and just notch the k-member. Correct, 95 and up explorers are disc rears. You can run the 8.8" at stock width and get offset wheels, or shorten the long side 3" and run 2 short side axels. LT1tech.com has a **** ton of wiring info if you have the patience to do it yourself. BP Automotive can convert your factory harness for a good price too. I believe they are a vendor on here, if not, sorry! I know for a better pump, some ppl are running a 2.2 flexfuel fuel pump.

PICTURES MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET SOME PICTURES UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and that isn't bad at all. when you pull motor and trans, UNPLUG everything and take it all to a salvage yard or a u-pull it place. Or list it on ebay and get some cash back.. Just remember to get a current video of it running for proof.

I "almost" did it. I spent around 3700 and I got GREAT deals.but I also did a bunch of stuff I didnt have to do. Like a cam and its supporting mods. Vette accessory swap. I got a fully functional 4L80e for a 100 bucks. Filled it with fluid and it moved the truck like none other. Im actually picking up another 2000 truck next week and redoing a swap because my frame cracked in half. This is just a sneak at what I had to order.

Best get over to s10forum and read the LSX swap section. An 8.8 from an explorer will bolt right in and you can use Mustang offset wheels from OE wheels to bolt right on. The fronts need a 2" spacer anyway so just get 5x4.75 to 5x4.5 spacer/adapters and run the mustang wheels all around...the saleen wheels are SWEET on a dime.
H3 pan works great...BRP headers work great with CPW poly mounts. If you know how to weld or know someone that can it will help. Fuel system will have to be changed...$3k will be tough unless you are doing a stockish 5.3 swap (no performance mods).

If you don't mind different wheels on the front vs the back then it doesn't matter. I was just pointing out that it's WAY easier to just run Ford wheels on the the explorer axle and change the front to Ford pattern than drill the axles for GM pattern wheels...trust me I KNOW.

Just another FYI on your rear brakes...if you pull your 8.8 from a junkyard get two of the short rubber hoses from the passenger side of an explorer. The drivers side is crimped into the hard line but the passenger side uses a fitting that will actually connect right up to the stock s10 rear brake lines. The rotors and pads for the explorer 8.8 are REALLY cheap so don't worry about how they look.
