No, they're the same size. You'll likely need a high mount passenger side bracket.

I think you are mistaken the Fbody alternator is a tad smaller than the GTO alternator. I used the Fbody alternator on my car for clearance that was needed at my power steering gear box.

Lizeec, thanks for the info. You have aGTO ls with f body alt in GTO stock location, and it clears gm power box in what year A body?

I have a LS2 & T56 in a 66 GTO, with BRP mounts, I had to install the Fbody alternator and I also had to grind on the power steering gearbox some and I changed the 4 bolts on the top of the gear box from regular bolts to allen head button style bolts. I have about 3/16 clearance from the ps pulley.

On the BRP website it talks about this procedure and where to grind on the power steering gear box. Another plus is the Fbody alternator is widely available and about 1/2 the price of a GTO alternator.
