hi! I’m trying to do the same thing with my 1990 Chevy 1500, I bought a parts truck with motor and trans but thought I needed a new wiring harness. You used the original?

You can use the 5.3 harness but you need to modify it. I went with a pre made harness from BP-Automotive and you only need to connect 4 wires. I did my swap back in 2011. If i was going to do it today i would use the holley terminator X setup. Way easier to setup and if you want to upgrade cam or heads much easier to program then buying Hptuners and learning or spending money to have someone tune it everytime you make a change.

You really need to check the post date when you reply to a two year old thread. bustac hasn't been here for over 2 years
