Default 76 dodge aspen build

76 dodge aspen with 63000 original miles. Budget 4.8l turbo build. i think my oil pan issue is my biggest feat so far. what you's think about it. looked at all pans available and looks like new camaro pan may be my only option and will still need to be cut in rear and a remote oil filter adapter used. stupid dodge steering set up in way. try to get pics up asap.

Damn right. It's staying original exterior anyway hubcaps and all. Truck intake and accessories fit under hood too. Gto front sump I would have to do alot of notching of k member and it still has a kick down in back. Need a center sump and that's where the new camaro pan helps but still have to notch rear of pan.

Why not build a new track link arm to allow the oil pan to be notched elsewhere other than in the center? Move it forward or back and notch an oil pan on that one side only. Maybe relocate the oil filter if the notch is in the rear.

Isn't there an all-wheel-drive variant of the Holden Monaro (GTO) that has provisions for the drive axle going through the oil pan?

My uncle had a white Volare back in the day. It lasted until the mid/late 90s. Thing wouldn't die.

I was raised in a dodge aspen station wagon.

This is one cool build.

Passenger side the steering link goes about 1 inch into oil pan area on the side when i turn tge wheel to the right. And I have about 4-5 inches from the back of pan towards the front that the steering rod is in way. Front of pan all I have to do is notch cross member a little and it will fit up front no problem. Basically I have 3 inches from bottom of motor to steering rod. After cutting the sump part of the truck pan off the oil filter area has a half inch to the steering rod. I don't even think a remote filter adapter would go on there. May just have to modify the steering rod. Is that safe for steering and all? If I cut it and added extra to go around pan?

Not gonna lie. That's where my idea came from. Even talk to Matt (denmah) about wgat he uses and suggestions. Just picked my turbo up. Hope it'll do. 70mm with 96ar hot side. Hoping for 500-600 on high boost. Gotta get the damn oil pan done tho. Did I mention dodge steering **** blows. I'm a chevy guy so I consider this a chevy with a dodge body added to it. Lol. Updates coming with pics.

Thanks for the rack and pinion idea. But it's kinda a budget build and could probly get a custom pan made for 600. Soon as I get some more measurements Tom. Ill either try a 2010- up camaro pan or make one out of the truck pan I have.

Ok. Did some work on the aspen today. Ill get the pics up in a little bit. But I figured out that a ls2-ls3 corvette oil pan is gonna be my easiest pan to work with. Center sumped and all I will have to do is cut the back of it and box it and a little work on pass. Side and it should work with oil filter relocation. Anyone that knows where I can get a decent deal on a corvette ls2 -ls3 oil pan Lmk I need one.

ebay or keep using searchtempest which searches craigslist nationwide. Call around to custom shops that deal with doing LS swaps/street rods, they may have a pan sitting in the corner. Doug Rippie is now out in Waverly, MN which is where I grew up. I ran out there & got some stock exhaust manifolds that would work for my AWD LS4 81 Omega from him for $50.

Thanks. I never heard of search tempest. I searched 2500 miles and found a few and hope they reply to me soon. They are like a month old so may be sold already. Anyone finds me one let me know. Looking to spend less than 200 on one. I know there are a few on eBay around that price. It's a budget car so cheaper the better. Uploading pics tonite.
