LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
I got bored with the power in my 1989 Formula 350.
370rwhp just seems slow now.
Figured its time for an LS1 swap. I contacted Alvin at PCM of NC about the swap. he spent probably about 2 hours over a few calls with me to discuss my questions and concerns about the swap, and to answer some pretty simple questions I'm sure. He definitely took his time and patience and put me at ease. I then purchased the following for $2500:
2002 LS1 complete, 4L60e, camaro seats, etc.
Sold the seats, transmission, ecm and wiring, motor mount stands, cam and springs (aftermarket comp cam), water pump etc and recooped about $2100 so I'm into this thing pretty cheap.
This is whats left
On order, is a set of 799 heads (same casting as LS6 heads) that I am going to send to Advance Inductions for their CNC job. Also purchased my single biggest mod evarrrr and got a Magnuson TVS2300 on the way. Its the same blower they use on the new ZL1 Camaro and ZR1 vette.
I'll order a cam from Alvin at PCM of NC and he's thinking I'll make about 650hp. That should suffice
Went to www.hawksthirdgen.com and ordered:
Just spent some time on hawks site and ordered:
2" Stainless works headers
AC Compressor Notch Kit for stock k member
Fuel line kit with FPR
Coolant Hoses
AC Hoses
motor mount brackets

Did some work on my LS1. Its all stripped down to the bare essentials. I've cleaned and degreased it, and painted it standard black.
When I get back from vacation in a few weeks I'm going to finish removing the gasket material stuck on the block, and bring it all to the shop for the swap. Before I drop it off I'll try to get some updated pic of the repainted engine bay

I stopped at RPM Transmissions in Anderson, IN on my way to Colorado. I met Jeremy who was really nice. He gave me a tour of their shop, showed me some of their shop race cars, some customer cars.and also where they do all their work.
For world record holding transmissions, I was a little surprised to see only about 10 people working there.
They said for what im looking for, a stock rebuild with some key upgrades (shift pads, keys, iron forks) should be fine. I also opted for the SFI bellhousing because I like my feet and if I have a horrible clutch failure, it will all hopefully stay contained. Think of it like a driveshaft loop for your clutch
Anyway, I picked it up 2 weeks later on my way home.

Just got a SHOCK on the rebuild price of myT56 apparently after 200k miles it needed some hard parts and they are NOT cheap. But now I have a "level 5" transmission good for 750 rwhp.*sigh*

I have been watching your car for years on youtube and TGO. You seemed to have a healthy engine! I guess the HP bug bit you though.
Werent you running a LS1 ECM on your SBC?

I was!
The small block ran amazing and made awesome power naturally aspirated but just felt slow after 3 years. Decided to step it up!
Alvin was able to rework my OBD2 harness which saved me considerable money, and also can reuse my 411 pcm!

Wow...great job my friend! I love how you re-painted the engine bay white...very clean look! I too, have been bitten by the hp bug before...it's ok, the only place it hurts is in the wallet...lol!! With almost double the hp, this should hold you for another couple years!! Good luck!
