Or you can do like RYEGUY did and notch the frame and weld in new supports.

I had meant the box on the firewall not your ac compressor if you dont notch the box that goes on the firewall which you have missing right now the last coil pack will hit it and it will be difficult to get the last spark plug wire in

RTCTA,
I have about 4 inches or more between the firewall to the back of the motor with the way i set my dirty dingo mounts. I have plenty of clearence. You must have set your motor way back.

im new to this and doing an ls swap into my 68 camaro and I bought the factory position motor mounts. With those mounts shouldn't my trans stay in the original position too? So I don't have to mess with the mount or driveshaft.

i don't know about that but with my 79 firebird and my uncle's 72 camaro both had 3/4" setback so we could still use factory tranny mount for th350 and th400

If you buy the adjustable dirty dingo mounts that bolt up to SBC 350 motor mounts you can adjust it however you want it to be. But oil pan clearance will be your issue.

Awesome build! I def have some questions for you as im trying to shave weight as well. That road atlanta vid was awesome! i plan on doing alot of road racing as well when im done. Whats your motor setup? You were outrunning some z06's on that course.

i didnt have clearance issues with the fbody pan there is not a whole lotta room but it does not sit below the crossmember or touch it you can pit your pinky inbetween the pan and crossmember all the way around as for the mounts i got the plans offline and fabricated my own adapters for sbc motor mount

Thanks HartAttack. It was definitely a blast to drive. The video was shot with my friend John driving and me riding shotgun. John has about 15 years of road racing under his belt (mostly on motorcycles). This, and a 2900 pound race weight, explains much of the apparent ease with which the car passed everything - and I mean everything - during its sessions on the track. The session on Youtube was in class B. Class A is "gonzo unlimited experienced race driver" and class D is "novice probably needs instructor."

John also tuned the engine, which is a carbureted internally stock LS1 from a 2001 corvette. It has Edelbrock long tube headers going into 2.5" pipes and cats, merging into a single 3" custom muffler. An Edelbrock thunder AVS 850 CFM carb sits on top of an Edelbrock dual plane intake and the shaker is open full-time. The occasional thumping sound during the video was from the 3" tail pipe, which has since been removed.

Thats pretty damn impressive! You got a basic bolt on LS1 t56 car out running everyone on the track.. Thats awesome. Mine is about a max effort LQ4 with ported 5.3 heads i did, big VRX5 vengeance cam, 1 7/8 longtubes, 2.5 truel dual exhaust with cutouts, twin disc, FAST 92mm intake and im making a custom ram air intake. Im looking at hopefully making 450-480hp and getting the car down to 3200lbs.

Im moving from Hawaii the beginning of
Next year back to the states. I dont know where yet, buy i cant wait to road race again. I will for sure be in touch about a few things.. Maybe well be able to link up one day depending on where the Air Force sends me.

Slowburm,
love the Sunoco hood. That's a good looking Z! Your gonna get frustrated being here without a track. However the car scene is huge. Every Saturday night at the NEX parking lot there are about a 50-100 cars there. Lots of LS cars. Mostly GTO's, and Vette's though. Not many F-Bodys roaming around for some reason.

Myself and a few other guys here are big LS guys and work out of our garages modded cars. So you can link up with me sometime and I can introduce you to them all if you want.
