Default Looking for input on fuel system

I'm looking for some advice on where to mount my filter regulator and fuel pump on my 68 camaro. I was thinking of running my electric fuel pump externally right off cell in the trunk and was thinking about mounting the filter regulator combo above the rear tire and run the return back to the cell from there. Do yall think that would be too far away from the intake or would it work. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Is the Fuel Cell in the Trunk ?... If external pump.. you need to place the pump as low as possible.. pumps don't do well trying to suck up fuel that is below, they are designed to push!..

If installed as recommended by the manufactor.. you shouldn't have any issue with it being to far from the engine or the return setup to the cell/tank.

Yes the cell is in the trunk with the fuel outlet at the bottom of the cell. I was going to mount the pump at the same height as the outlet of the cell. After the line leaves the trunk it drops down to run along the frame rail to the engine bay from there it'll be higher to reach the fuel rail. Does that sound like it'll work? Is it alright to have the regulator by the rear tire that far from the fuel rail?

You should mount the pump as close as possible to the tank and the filter right after the pump. Be warned that an external pump will be noisy. I had an external for a number of years and the whine bothered me mainly at idle. Of course then you will be tuned to hear it and you will every time. When at speed I did not hear it but it can be enough for you to think about putting it in the tank.

Should I put it in the trunk or outside on frame rail?

That's not a bad deal on tank. But I have aftermarket suspension and car is mini tubbed so there are a few extra bars where the tank used to be

I originally had a TPI motor in my car and now a LS motor. It is a bit easier to put the fuel lines and pump on the upper frame rail on the drivers side on top of the wheel well. You may also make a bracket and put it in front of the tank depending on your exhaust setup. Be prepared to deal with a pressurized tank unless it is vented both ways.

I've got a vent running off the top of the cell to the outside of the car. What do you mean vented both ways?

I'm running mine directly behind the fuel cell at the same height as the sump and it's working great. My cell is also vented off the top and out through the trunk.

I think I'm going to Run mine that same way I just didn't know if it would matter having the reg so far from fuel rail. To mount the filter are you just using that one tab cant really tell by the pic but it looks like it's hanging below the frame

I wanted my regulator directly coupled to my fuel pump so I had to mount an L bracket off of the frame for the regulator to bolt to. I have had no issues with the regulator mounted close to the tank and it makes for a very short return line.
