Not much progress but did get a few things done. Started with the dreaded process of cutting the old spring hangers out of the rear of the car to get ready for the new wider hangers for the S-10 springs.

Then I moved onto cutting the spring perches off the new axle since the original loctions want work.

I also went ahead and pulled the old tank since it was full of years of old rust and crud.

Put some more time in on the 54 which started with slapping the rack and pinion on.

Then I moved to the back and mocked the rear end up so I could start laying out where the new spring hangers will go. Will also need to get the *** end down a lot more for me to be happy.

Started building the front spring hangers and also made me a little jig so I can box them in easier.

So you are going with bags up front and , leafs out back ?, It would be nice to have ladder bars and bags in the back IMHO

Yes for now. The next phase of the build will address the rear which will include 4 linking it, C notching the frame, and adding bags. Just didn't wanna have the car down that much longer doing all that. Upgrading the rear for now with the wider springs isn't that hard and I'm not really sure how long it"ll be before I try and tackle the rear airbags so I figured why not.

I hope so! I started a build thread on the HAMB, but I haven't updated it lately. I actually don't even go on that site anymore because they get way too bent out shape if something isn't "period correct" or "traditional"... bunch of old farts over there!

Here's a link if you want to check it out: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=805004

Cheers!

Nice work guys!! I have a 50 chevy that I am currently working on just picked up 2005 6.0L 4L80E that's going in it. I agree with ya Leadfoot the HAMB is a bit picky.

Nice build. Your car looks to be in much better shape than mine. My projects on hold for a bit. The only thing I've done since posting these pics is move the computer inside and rewire the harness. Here's the link.

Did some plating to the areas the motor mounts will attach and then reinstalled the motor to its final resting place to start attaching mounts.

Started the trans cross member this week and I wanted to reuse the frame bolt holes so this is what I came up with.

Started by rebuilding the center to clear the speedometer plug.

Then cut some brackets that will bolt to the frame.

With deer season in full swing here in Ga haven't put much time in on the 54 but I did start some pain staking sheet metal work. Been working on cleaning up the firewall.
