1978 Porsche 911sc coupe 5.3 ls build

yes and with a 350chp 5.3 ls motor, you are in new corvette zo6 territory for 1/3 the price. and with every nut and bolt, and all mechanicals being replaced in this car, basically you have a new car, almost. still old body, but man what a body...lol

that is badass, that is exactly what I am building next but with a 5.3 lsx in it. already have a l33 going together for it. ls2 cam/springs, ls6 intake, stainless headers, 85 tb/maf, so on.

this is a lm7 5.3 iron block 762 headed motor. only mods are ls1 intake and ls1 cam. I don't need the tq the truck cam puts down was the reason for the cam change. other wise would have left the truck cam in it. 2200lb car doesn't need tq as much as hp, also will help the trans live longer.
post script; update, now a ls2 cam because I got one cheap with low miles.

scored this 23k mile ls2 cam, springs, retainers, and locks for 99. shipped to my door. in howards boxes as the guy I got them from upgraded his gto ls2 with new howards parts and put the oem's in the howards boxes to ship to me. in a carcraft magazine they did a stock 5.3 cam shoot out comparison, the ls2 cam made 403chp in a otherwise bone stock 5.3. not bad for a cam only change. will work great for my application since this car is light, and a 5 speed I don't need the torque of a truck cam.

just a teaser... the last 911sc coupe I built with a bone stock 5.3 lm7 longblock. only power adders were ls1 intake, headers, and 1.8 roller rockers. it had stock 5.3 cam and heads, it was a stump puller... superbike on four wheels kinda fast... the 911sc is only 2200/2300lbs, so with a very mild almost bone stock 5.3 325hp ish it is a rocket. hp/weight ratio is killer. and of coarse being a 911 it corners and brakes like a slot car already. after the first of the year I will finish up this car, it isn't far from being done tho currently. fun fun toys... lol
post script; the 911sc has a shorter wheel base than a vintage vw bug, and only weighs around 2200/2300. wrap your head around that. like putting a v8 in a old bug kinda thing lol

Sweet swap man! But listen, new part pics are fun and all. BUT:
Give us some pics of the car and and engine! And how you stick it all together! I have a big Porche buddy and I'd like to use this thread as a kick starter for him!
Good luck on the swap and give us some pics!!
