So you already have an LS motor in your truck you just want a bigger engine I'm guessing. A 6.2L should be pretty straightforward. You could buy a long block from GM and just swap all of your accessories over. You want to stick with a GEN IV engine. LS1 and LS2 are GEN III. Honestly for what you will have in purchasing another long block and labor to put it in, you could just do a twin turbo setup on your stock engine. The 4.8L engines love boost. Hot Rod magazine made 1200hp on race gas and never blew up the stock bottom end.

true, but i dont really want to mess with fueling, plumbing for two turbo's or even one, and tuning with sd, finding a new tranny and rear end, ect...what i do want to do if find a vehicle with a gen four motor that is an lsx of some sort and swap the two so I can boost the hell out of it in a base vehicle that will allow me to go faster. That will probably be a g8 gt with the ls2. So you guys kinda get what my plan is, what i am trying to figure out if i just swap the two motors and ecu's and im good to go? Or is there a little more involvement?

First of all just want to clear a couple things up , the LS2 is not a Gen lll , its a Gen lV . Second the, G8 GT has a L76 not an LS2 . While both are 6.0 and Gen IV they are quit different L76 has AFM and L92 style heads LS2 is cathedral .

Still not clear on what swap you are trying to do . Hope this helps you decide.

If you want to put a 6.0 in your truck. Look for the following L-76 truck version not car, LY6 OR L-96. If you want to delete the VVT , you probably can use your harness and ecm also. The L-76 is VVT and AFM and are not cheap so your best bet is LY6 or L96. Or step up to a 6.2 L92

ok, say i get a G8. I already have the 2010 silverado with the 4.8. I want to swap the two between each other. Do you get what im saying now omc8? so my questions once again is: is this going to be easy to do and what specifically, if anything, needs to be done? Like you already said, both are fourth gen so that alone should make it easier. right?

The G8 GT is a L76 but differs from the truck version in many repects. It can be done but the truck verison is easier and cheaper to do. This is what I would do, get a LY6 or L96 . If you have a little bigger budget go for L92 , then delete the AFM and upgrade the cam to a good strong Torque pulling cam .This way you can still use your harness and ecm if you want.

Pretty much. The G8 came with three engine options. L76 3.6 v6, LY6 6.0 v8, or the LS3 6.2 v8. You'll need the LY6 6.0 truck intake since it's a retangular port. Using the truck intake and rails will keep from having to resorting to modifying the fuel lines to fit the car intake rails. Just make sure to get it tuned for the new motor. A simple mail-order tune should do.

Good luck on the swap.

While there was 3 available engines for a G8. There was only one engine in the G8 GT and it was a 6.0 L76 , not a LY6. The 6.2 LS3 was only offered in the 2009 G8 GT GXP model and is very rare.

You would probably be time and money ahead selling this truck and buying another with a bigger engine.

I thought you said you didn't want to deal with a turbo in your truck?
