Tomorrow is looking to be the day I get the carb on the way to me, but if not, then Friday for sure.

Got to figure out the fuel cell deal, which size tank I am going to run. Still tossing the idea of going ahead and getting a 15 gallon instead of a 20, but I just like the idea of a longer driving range. It wont be 600 miles, but it should be at least 3-400. So not pathetically bad.. The 5 gallon idea is if I turn it into a straight up drag truck, no tags, no insurance, no worries!

Hoping for a bit of warm weather in the next couple days to get a friend over and get the trans out. According to weather.com Friday is supposed to be 53 degrees. May have to get it yanked out then and see about hauling it over beginning of next week.

Got some stuff done today. Picked up the gaskets for the edelbrock intake and got it part way bolted up. Cleaned heads before installation, not real bad but some gunk that needed to come off.

Also got the heim joint in for the remote battery switch I am working to build. I will have to go to the parts store tomorrow to see if they have a long bolt to fit into these threads. I tried the group of stuff I have here and could only get a couple bolts to get a thread or two started. Didn't force anything so no damage.

Just an FYI for those interested, the fel pro gaskets I got for the victor jr LS intake are part number MS92438 and I got mine at Napa for $22 and change tax and all. Oreilly's offers them for about the same at 22.99 retail price. Find a nice counter guy who can get it on a business account that has a good discount, and they may come in cheaper than that. Guys online are selling them for $39.99 plus shipping.

next weeks check is already gone with paying off napa and getting my intake gaskets..

Plus, depending on how the therapist feels I am doing, he may recommend more therapy before going back to work.

I thought of the whole valvetrain swap, but on stock 862's I wont go with anything big cause it wont do much good past a certain point.

I am thinking 540-550 lift would be the max with a set of yellow matched springs from Lingenfelter. But to me, it isn't worth spending the money now for an intermediate part, but rather spend the money on parts that will work as a whole later on. Get the cylinder heads first, then get the valve springs and head gaskets, and finally the camshaft for the last piece of the puzzle.

Hell, my budget is so tight right now, I cant even get the new slicks I want to for next year. Even one at a time!!

But, all in time. If I get to return to work, I will be saving up some money for different parts to upgrade along the way. Bad thing is, the one part I WANT to upgrade the most is the rear end. But if I do that, then these wheels are useless because the rear axles/brake drums will have a different bolt pattern than the chevy. And there goes $246 for the pair. Right now they are 100% untouched and therefore eligible for either refund, or trade in for wheels to fit on the rear I get put in.

Thumbs down

Well, I was all excited to have gotten in my first section of braided fuel line in the mail today!!

Until I opened it up!

These half-witted dense asses must have handed the line to a 3 year old with kiddie scissors and said "here, cut this using these".

I expected a company that is represented to be professional to do the smart thing on cutting braided fuel line like this. Mark the location, tape it off, and use a cutoff wheel for a smooth clean cut so there are no issues. Then leave the tape on the end so that it arrives safe and sound for both the mail carriers and myself.

And yes, it was off ebay. but they are already getting an earful and I will be filing a complaint on them for this, and other transactions I am reading about will get brought to eBay's attention.

I am majorly disappointed and severely pissed cause now I have to take and throw away half a foot worth of line or more to get the ends clean for installing AN fittings.

What's the big deal on the braided? Did they give you 3 feet ? If they gave you what you ordered than I don't see a problem. They should have left it taped when they cut it, but you can do the same. Wrap it with tape all nice and tight and then use a fine tooth hacksaw or a dremel with a cut off wheeel to make it a clean cut.

The big deal is I paid for 3 feet of braided. I got 2 1/2 feet of braided because I am going to have to cut this back for a clean end to install my AN fitting on. Plus, it was poking through the flimsy little padded envelope they stuffed it in. That did poke me, and it could have poked someone else. It was dangerous to a small point for adults, but what if I had a little kid who wanted to go get the mail, they grab that, get poked in the hand, or face if they carry stuff like most little kids do, then it becomes a major problem. It was a careless move on their part, plain and simple. Both safety and customer satisfaction wise.

You may not see it that way, but I do.

No I understand. If you paid for 3 feet and only got a 2 1/2 foot I'd be pissed myself. As for the kid part, well things can always go wrong. E-mail back and bitch like I would do it. Too bad you are not closer, I have a bunch of odds and ends in stainless. For what they charge for that stuff,it's a crime . They should have at least left the tape on the cut so it's clean for you to use.

I don't even think they had tape on it to cut it. It looks like they tried using a hammer and screwdriver or chisel to do it.. ridiculous....

I wrapped the ends with the blue tape and took it to the napa here in town that also makes high pressure hoses. Guy I have known for 20+ years works there now. He took it back and ran it through their chop saw on the tape and got me a really clean cut.
Got home to find my 90 degree hose end had come in, so I put it together and had no issues what so ever. Screwed in nice and snug, gave it a good pull and no movement of any kind. Worked great!!

Now to get money for more ends like these so I can get the rest of my fuel system built!!

Also, my carb came in today!! NICE!!!!!!!!! He even tossed in a couple brackets to make installation easier. Bad part is he is crying about wanting me to get MINE up and running when it is 25 degrees outside and no shop!! But yet he is the one with a nice warm garage and he wont go get a carb for his to get it up and running yet!! LOL

I cut my braided AN hose with a masonry chisel. It's gotta be SHARP! A couple good hits and it cuts right through, no tape, slides right in the socket. I've done this on hose from -3 to -16
