Default Another 89 notchback swap supercharged

I just finished the necessary elements to get my 89 notchback ready for testing at the track. I swapped an escalade 6.2 short block with custom cam, and new LS3 heads backed by a powerglide. When I finished I wasn't sure it was gonna make enough power so I put a Paxton Novi2000 on the front of the combo. The car made 656rwhp 540rwtq. What do you think it will run in a gutted coupe?

This is what I started with. Paid $400 for the chassis.

Then built this engine.

Putting her in the home.

Then I put in new brakes, and coil overs at each corner.

I found an 8.8 in the junkyard, and built it with Strange 35 spline chromoly spool, chromoly axle shafts, and C-clip eliminators. Sorry no pictures.

Me and a friend fabbed a 10 point chromoly cage.

I spent a couple weeks in my spare time figuring out how to wire a car from scratch, but when I finished all the lights work, the gauges work, and it still has functional power windows and door locks. Not too bad for a home garage race car.

Once I got this far I figured I might as well make some real power. So in went a Paxton Novi2000.

After all that was done it still looks pretty ugly, but it was off to the tuner. Now it looks like this. It's going to the track for preliminary testing before I make her look pretty. As soon as they open back up.

This forum was extremely helpful for this build, and I did all the work myself in my two car garage. I left a lot of little things out of this post, but if you have a question about anything I can give first hand knowledge of my experience. Thanks to everyone on the forum who went before me, and provided the inspiration.

Those are stock L92 Escalade pistons. That engine had VVT, so they have reliefs for that.

The cage was still through the floor in those pics. It's pushed up tight to the headliner now. I could barely fit it back in. I'm 6'1" by the way. Lol

Looks good. Did you buy the engine bay panels or build them, the firewall and sides?

I pulled my entire brake system from 1996 V6 Mustang in the junkyard. I got hard lines, brake booster, caliper mounts, spindles, soft lines, etc. Then I went to autozone and got new rotors and pads. Bled the whole thing out, and they work great. 4 wheel disc.

I bought the car with the engine bay already smoothed out. i wish it hadn't been done already. Since this is a drag car i don't really want the extra weight, and if I would have had more space without having to cut everything out I would have gone turbo instead of supercharger.

I'll post more pics and update the thread when I decide to do the paint and body. It's just a gutted coupe right now, with nothing that isn't essential for going down the track. I did reuse the existing power windows and locks though. I want to see what it runs before I invest any more money into making it look good. If it doesn't run what I want I'll yank the drivetrain, and find a nice street worthy coupe to stick all this stuff in. This car was also built with no welding done except for the cage, and torque box reinforcements. Everything I bought bolted in.

It did fit, but it was so close I dented one of the primary tubes for a little more clearance.

I used Florida 5.0 cluster with autometer procomp gauges, and TCI Outlaw Shifter. There isn't much to see on the inside. I just put the stock upper dash cover in place with the Florida 5.0 cluster, and an aluminum race seat. That's all there is for now, but the interior will remain gutted for this car. I'm going to finish scraping the insulation, and spray paint everything inside black.

I used everything from the 1996 mustang, including master cylinder and porportioning valve.

Where did you get the bracket for the RR Novi 2000? Is that just a standard mod motor head unit? Are you driving it off the main belt or does it run off a separate belt?

Thanks.
