5.3L Wrangler
Front of the water pump bolt to the back of the block is 27", the 2.5L is 24"
The throttle body and fuel rail are the newer style, I'll be switching to cable throttle and returnless fuel rail.
Still need the alternator, power steering pump, intake plenum which has the mounts for the throttle body and fuel rail, wiring harness, computer, and who knows what else.
Ended up finding an oil pan on e-bay.
Any recommendations on maintenance while I've got it out?


This is the stock exhaust manifold.

This was form a 99 Corvette. Hoping to get some better clearance with these.

Planning on using a 2002 1500 as a donor for the computer, wiring harness, cable throttle body, returnless fuel rail, and I guess I'll need the intake plenum to mount the TB.
Should I block off EGR ports?
Sending the computer out for programing, what specifically would need redone?
-Eliminate VATS
-Manual transmission
-VIN# ?
-can rear O2 be deleted, I can run front two in C5 header?
-VSS tone ring will be in output shaft of transfer case because it's manual?
Another question for you guys/gals. The car LS motors seem to have a fuel rail with no return, the trucks seem to have a return (in what little I've seen). Does anyone know if a fuel rail from a C5 vette will fit a 5.3L, or would I need to take the whole intake plenum?
Or does anyone know of a 5.3L truck motor that has a return-less fuel rail?

And the C5 headers don't look like they were the best choice.
The trans has to move down about 2" from here.
Won't be able to clock the Atlas flat cause this is the driver's footwell. Trans comes down, case will have to be clocked down. Probably still cutting the floor.
Still working out the crossmember though.

Pulled it all back out and burned home all the mounts.
Sprayed the frame & firewall black, covering my sweet heater core patch panels...

Started doing this kinda stuff.
The Envoy headers looked great, tons of clearance, BUT the drivers side was right where the clutch slave cylinder needs to be. Shame. They would have been nice.
The Corvette ones weren't even close, they must have different motor mounts.
I pulled everything back out, did the final welding, mounted the flywheel/clutch, and set it all back in (with some of the wiring started).


Anyone know if the oil level sender in the pan just an open/close contact?
I think I'm going to just skip the dipstick (keep the oil in the motor when I flip this) and run a dummy light off that pan sensor.
