My Pro-Touring Project - 1969 Camaro LSX427 TT
Decided I'd put this up. It's showing a bit of progress. I wont bore you with too many details or make this a build thread as I have a couple of those if you're interested in following the car here.
Car started off as a base model 307 w/ 3spd car. Hugger Orange and black interior. Was Yellow w/ Black stripes through highschool and eventually got a LT1 w/ T56 and driven to college for a year. It got parked in 2004/5 timeframe and sent to my parents house to wait for me to finish college.
Car was brought here to Houston in 2008 where it sat a few more years before I decided it was time to spend some money on it. Build it taking me forever as I'm saving for each thing and paying cash for it along the way (no lease agreements available for classic cars).
Here's how it started:
Car got Blasted:
Metal got replaced:
Minitubs Installed:
New Subframe and New 4 link w/ 9inch rearend from Detroit Speed showed up:
They were installed along with welded through floor subframes:
Added a 6 point 4130 Cage for good measure:
Plenty of room for big tires (345/30/20s in this pic): *NOT MY WHEELS
Off to the paint jail for FAR too long:
Color coat wetsanded as well as several layers of clear wetsanded:
Blackout the tail panel and cage/interior:
Back together after 11 months in the paint shop:
Cage looks good with everything painted:
Picked the car up a little over a week ago:
Decent reflection:
Right now I'm getting wheels spec'd out with Tony. Get those on order so they're here by about the time I'm back from my offshore trip. Trying to get engine parts lined out as well. Car has a long way to go and took a long time to get to this point.

Thanks! Full DSE suspension, minitubbed. Ordering up a set of forgelines for it (18/19 combo with 345 in rear). Getting the engine stuff together now (402" LS2 w/ LS3 heads and TT setup).
Got a long way to go on this car and finances are dictating build speed. I'll take my time to do it right.

Test fitting LS motor and Stainless Works turbo headers. Threw a holley hi-rise manifold on it for test. Not sure if I'll do that just yet. Have a perfectly good LS3 intake in the garage.
T56 Magnum fit pretty well in there. We put it at the appropriate angle and modified the tunnel as needed. Built a custom transmission cross member as well.

Oh Snap! It just got serious. Full complement of DSE goodness. Subscribed!

Yea, part of why this build time frame got extended. As well as 11 months in the paint shop!
Decided to go full DSE suspension as they have the best reputation for performance and have backup in engineering design and real world performance. I took it a step further and the frame is welded into the car along with the "through the floor" DSE subframes. Cage ties it all together!

Actually maybe you guys can help me on my latest issue. Picking wheels.
Like many things, the longer you wait the more doubt you have. I am conflicted on wheels. I'm going to post up some options I'm looking at right now and let me know what you think. All are Forgeline, and all will be titanium w/ brushed lips. 18x9.5 in the front and 19x12 in the rear. The options with some details are below. I will try to find wheels that are as close to the finish and the expected offset as possible.
Forgeline GA3:
I like these, they're VERY popular which is part of the downside. I know of 3 first gen camaros in Houston that will be using this wheel. Two are being built where my car currently resides (GAP, 68 and 69 camaro) and the third is Black with HTM finished GA3's. Another downside is they sorta remind me of FR500s from SN95 glory days.
Examples:
Forgeline CF3C:
This is the same wheel that Gray (BigBronco) has on his Z06. I took them and put them next to my car and they looked good. I'm a sucker for 5 spoke wheels. Recently forgeline put up a CF3C in titanium with a black lip that they put on a C10 and it sparked my interest again. Downside is they're a little on the plain side and maybe a little to "delicate" for the 69 camaro (spokes on the thin side). Concave wheel will reduce the lip and the concave is not available in a stepped lip for 18" wheels, so they would have straight lip. One benefit is no one is really running this on a first gen. Definitely not one with any ability to have offset.
Examples:
Forgeline GZ3:
There is a 69 camaro with these north of Houston. Really growing on me, and different. Pictured below are silver w/ polished, these will all be titanium/brushed. Stepped lip on this and high offset really looks good. Downside to me is I'm MORE a fan of 5 spoke. That being said this rim does get my attention. There are several first gen camaros with these wheels. Believe it or not, more than GA3's i think! Just not as many in Houston!
Examples: (the 69 camaro near Houston)
Feel free to throw up options. Been looking at this a LOT today and this is about all I can come up with. I want to like the CF3C the most. GA3's and GZ3's both look good. GZ3 has more on first gens probably (going by forgeline's website), I KNOW of more first gens with GA3's on them in Houston.

THANKS! That was just the mock up. Those headers belong to a friends 66 GTO he's building. I'm looking at getting a set of my own and likely just use the LS3 intake manifold.
Putting together engine parts now. Looking like 402" LS2 w/ LS3 heads and twins

Will the hood clear that intake?

I've looked at both. Fikse is awesome and the original wheels I wanted for the car. Problem is even though they're timeless they were very big on first gens 7-10 years ago. I dont want to finish this car and have it look like a 10 year old build.
I will get a set of Fikse's for it, but it wont be the first set of wheels. Formula43 are nice, but nothing excited me really. Similar to Fikse. They're timeless designs but kinda plain.
