Junk yard run

Junk yard run
Looks like I will finally be doing a JY run this week to get an lq4 power plant for my swap. Should I concentrate in getting a good engine alone, or should I look for a good bundle ( engine, harness, throttle pedal, fuse box, etc) not only price wise, but I'm thinking piecing all the neccesary parts later might be a headache.
I want to make sure I don't forget something, I don't get many days off to spend looking for parts.
Btw it's going inside a non gm car, so I need everything.
Thanks

Thanks for the feedback.
If im reading correctly, there are three main plugs that go to the under hood fuse box? I would only need one of these plugs, which controls the majority of engine and tranny sensors/ circuits? The other two are body related?
Thanks

If you are going to do the removal yourself, only worry with chasing the MAIN engine harness to the power block. Double check all the way around everything before removal also. Would hate to see you have to buy a new harness, or go through the hassles of re-wiring a plug you missed.
One other thing, leave the transmission controls intact in the harness. Whether you plan to use an electronic trans or not, leave the wiring in there. Its easy to pin it up out of the way, it is a MAJOR pita and will de-value the harness if you remove it, should you decide to sell the harness at some time.

Understood. Thank you. I will be going to a couple of "u pull it" Junk yards today. If i dont find anything, car-part shows a lot of other places.
I just dont want to make a stupid mistake by not getting all the necessary parts.
Thanks

After a 5 hour round trip under sleet, rain and snow, i finally got the engine. I called before heading that way to make sure they still had the lq4 with 65k that they showed online. I got there and to my surprise, yup, it was no longer there. So they got a second engine. I looked at it, it was clean and had 76k on it. So i went with it. Well it turned out to be an lq9.
Long story short, i got the long block, throttle, wiring harness, computer, alternator and bracket, starter and a 4l80 around 2 grand. Other junk yards around here wanted 2k for just the long block (with over 150k). So im happy with the purchase.
Now the fun begins...

Good find, and now the real fun begins. Next step is go to the store, buy a case of beer, drink 2 now to celebrate, and save the rest for the wiring harness mod days. ;P. Good luck

Im anxious to start tear down and work on the harness.
Next I need to find a pedal, tac module and tac harness. Do these need to come off a same year truck (2003)? Or other years fit .
Thank you guys.
