DOD= Displacement On Demand. Runs on 4 cylinders when power isn't needed and activates the other 4 when it is. Uses oil pressure to hold the exhaust valves open.

VVT= Variable Valve Timing. Not sure how exactly this works but it extremely common on 4cyl engines.

DOD actually keeps both the Intake and Exhaust Valves Closed. It sounds crazy but the sealed cylinder reduces pumping losses that would normally occur with open valves.

VVT can Advance the Cam Timing up to 7 Degrees for low end torque or Retard it up to 45 Degrees for top end power. It uses oil pressure to control a phaser which replaces the Cam Gear.

Ok Guys I rip all the accessories off and found there's some kind of sensor on the timing cover. its have 243 heads on it. So that's good news. How do I know if I have VVT or DOD so I can order the Harness for it

thx

Take pics and post them. I am sure many can spot it on the visual. Call a harness company like PSI or Speartech they can tell you your options on harnesses. Most delete DOD which requires a different cam (or just lifters??) but not sure how well VVT works with swaps... Those companies will be able to tell you all that is required for keeping features and/or deleting them.
