65 Beaumont 6l swap
I have been on this site for a few weeks now doing a lot of research and asking a few questions. I sold the 496 bbc and wanted something a bit different for my ride. I picked up a new gm L96 long block for a very good price. I am going to go carb for now as I have to admit computer tuning an efi scares the chit out of me.
I have had the 6 liter set in the engine bay a couple of times now making adjustments and getting it to sit where the big block sat so I can use my Dennys drive shaft and the shifter for the tremec sits in the same place.
I am happy to report the new Holley 302-2 oil pan clears everything fine. The new Flowmaster 1 3/4 headers are the first headers I have ever installed in this car that basically fall into place without having to ding a tube. Unbelievable!!
I don't have room for the vic jr. so I am going with the hew Holley dual plane intake along with the MSD 6012. I am currently trying to decide on a fuel pump, external for now. I will not be able to live with something noisy

Nice Pontiac! You don't see many of those in the US. What about going with a in tank pump instead. You should be able to get a Chevelle tank already modded or do it yourself. A TBI style fuel pump module should work with a regulator. It will definitely be quieter.

If I could find a relatively inexpensive efi tank I would go that way.

YOU could always swap to a better pump. Or mod your tank.
use lock rings http://www.vetteworksonline.net/cata...products_id=89
Then get a factory gm fuel pump module w/pigtail.

Well you convinced me. I ordered a Tanks Inc fuel tank with the walbro pump, Aeromotive regulator and filter. When I do go efi down the road I will need to change regulators.
Another thing I need some info on is valve covers. My long block came without one having provisions for a oil fill cap. Both covers have just a nipple straight up. I need 1 cover with the oil fill cap and a nipple for evac that comes out the side.
I should say something about the Spectra efi tank mentioned earlier in this thread. Rockauto has the for 350.00 or so. I know Spectra tanks are made here in Canada so I phoned them and got a list of distributors local to me. Cheapest price I found was $975.00. I called Spectra back and told them why they probably don't sell many tanks in Canada

Well I suck at keeping things updated with pictures. I am just waiting for a few valve train parts and then the engine will be set in for the final time. Tanks inc tank is installed with plumbing done to the engine bay and regulator. MSD 6012 is in the car with the box under the dash. I took a few pictures and will try and post them
Here is the 496 that came out

I finally have the engine about ready to drop in. I still have a few things to figure out like rad hoses, plug wires and rebuild my old pro systems 780 carb among other things, but those will be sorted out later. I still would like to find about a 165 degree t stat also
