I think I paid $425 for the stand-alone harness modification and E38 programming from Ken. I got the impression this was quite low, given Ken's background in harness building at GM and cost of credits in HP Tuners.

cheers,

Doug

I have purchased 2 harness's from TechRods and both have been perfect. No complaints at all from them. One was for a 2001 24x LS non electronic trans and the other was for 1998 7.4 MPFI 454 with 4l80e.

My last harness I made myself using a Microsquirt on a 58x LS, and honestly I doubt I will ever purchase another premade stand alone harness. Although it took some time to make the harness it wasnt that hard to do at all....

PSI is a local guy here in NJ. Known him a long time back when he was playing with street cars.
Quality is there, without a doubt one of the best setups, you will not regret buying from him.

I didn't have to touch my stock harness, and it came with the engine. No headache for me.

The only headache is if you are trying to use the truck harness and make it look pretty. Otherwise there are no headaches. It just sits there and does its job like it's supposed to.

If you want a quality, standalone harness, there are several great options already mentioned in the thread. The original question was what is the best/cheapest option. Stock is the cheapest and it does what it's supposed to do.

PSI for me on my 240sx....Two wire hookup in any vehicle - Fuel pump and switched ignition. Otherwise everything else is contained in the harness. Couldn't be easier.

I have used Bill from BP on three builds thus far. Great guy and great product.

I have also pinned out several stock harnesses and if I have the time there not that difficult to do. Plus its a great thing to teach my boys how to read schematics.

theres a ton of threads on here on how to do it yourself, if not , the ebay ones really arent all that bad, you cant really screw up building a harness if you can read schematics

If you build your own, where is a good source for the connector terminals. I've got a '03 5.3/4L60e combo that I'm thinking about modifying the harness myself and I notice that one or two of the wires were broken right at the transmission connector.

Oh, and cheapest and best the only way that is going to happen is if you do it yourself, and are competent in wiring. The harness is a very very important part, so it is expensive.

why not just use a stock harness, plug in what you need and cut out the wires you dont? seems easy enough
