Default Best and Cheapest LS Harness for Conversion

I've noticed these eBay ones that are hand made. I'm not dropping 900 for a painless.

Honestly, I would never buy an assembly as crucial as that from eBay. The support you're likely to get is nil, and the harnesses often need to be custom made considering model years, accessory bracket setup, pcm placement, etc. To get something like that from eBay is asking for trouble.

You would probably be better off buying an engine with the harness still on it and plucking out the wires you don't need and extending others to fit your application.

Best and cheapest don't go together in the same sentence. The E67 ECU kit was well worth the money.

I've always thought cheapest was part of best. As an engineer I know my management thinks that way.

When it comes to harnesses just use the stocker as is. A few unused wires won't hurt anything.

I bought a techrods harness on ebay for my truck and it has worked perfectly for the last year. Just told them it had a/c and controlled a 4l60e from a 99 Silverado. Plugged right in and had zero problems. If I were to build another car with a ls motor, I would buy another techrods harness. Just my 2 cents.

Would never consider a harness from ebay. (besides a few exceptions since some ls1tech sponsors sell on ebay as well)

Its probably 90% used wire with god awful primary wire spliced in, also take the chance of the wrong color wiring being used. Possibly used connectors that have been half *** cleaned with reused seals and worst of all.... Everything crimped with these.

cheapest is stock, and I trust GM for quality. I have all stock harnesses on my LS2, but I pulled out a lot of extra wires from the body harness.

However if you want to use the truck harness, you have issues with length and also extra wires.

I used Ken Wolkens of LS Conversions. He did a great job. He is an ex-GM power train engineer. He used to build harnesses at GM for mule vehicles.
Ken uses building harnesses for hot rodders to fund his hot rod projects. He can do stock modified standalone or custom.

He has a partner who does the tuning.

Doug

Current Performance is another option. They always treated the S10 conversion guys right.

Very nice person to deal with. I have used a PSI also, went back to BP for the other builds. I also made the mistake of buying one from e-bay. A nightmare would be a understatement. Nothing but problems.

I vote stock harness for best CHEAPEST harness, you can route it how you want after you get rid of unneeded wires. If you get it with the engine all you need is a fuse block and a few relays, of course it takes some labor to make it standalone and test it but you can't beat the price. Just follow lt1swap.com's pinouts.

I can set you up with a very nice harness for a good price. Our harnesses use real GM weatherpak connectors (brand new) as well as a nice nylon loom. All ends are covered with heat shrink and not electrical tape. $750 you name the engine and computer it will go to. PM for more details.

The harness for my LS1 S10 came from Jared over at CPW. Excellent quality and built to my exact needs. Customer service has been good so far, as well.

Another vote for Jared at Current Performance Wiring. He built mine custom for my lq4/4l80e fox. Great harness and great customer service.

I ordered mine from PSI, I wouldn't mess with tearing apart a stock harness. Looks like **** and takes to long, just my .2 cents
