Hey guys I have a rebuilt 03-04 Cobra T56 that I want to use with my L33 swap in a 2006 Colorado. I know this has been discussed several times, but I already have the trans and it is perfect and proven. I could sell it, but then I'd be looking at taking a chance on a used F-Body T56. I've been burned too many times with used transmissions. I am already planning on having a custom driveshaft made, so that is not a concern, so I'm guessing I will only need an LS1 input shaft and bellhousing? Any idea if the shifter will line up? Or should I just sell this one and get a rebuilt F-Body T56 from a proven place.

Take what Andrew said above plus I think the gearing is different, but don't quote me on that. If it is, that adds complexity...
Differences and prices off the top of my head (I'm sure there are more):
I know people used to (maybe still do) talk about converting LT1 T-56 and LSx T-56 Corvette transmissions to LSx spec and it wasn't cost effective. I can't imagine the Ford variant would be any different by the time you purchased everything to mate it to the engine. Problem #2 - replacing the input shaft requires a complete tear down because it's one of the last bits out of the housing... just something to think about.
Differences and prices off the top of my head (I'm sure there are more):
- The Input shaft $250
- mid plate is different $200
- bell housing (obviously) $200 (stock) $500 (SFI)
- clutch / slave / throw out bearing $300 and up
- Someone to do the work - even if it's yourself ???
