GEN IV Limitations? a/c? cruise control? others?
I've got a 2009 5.3/6l80 combo I plan to install into my Jeep Wagoneer.
I've been doing my research and trying to find everything I will need to do, need to buy, etc.
I've learned that some of the functions on the gen iv vehicles are controlled by the BCM/CANBUS as opposed to the PCM.
Is there a list of what you can NOT do with a basic GEN IV swap? Obviously you could install every module from the donor but that isn't typical.
Any input is appreciated
Shawn

I used dakota digital's STA 1000 to take speed and rpm from the CAN bus (OBDII port). That unit outputs a waveform compatible with older gauges and is highly adjustable, so you can correct the speedo.
If you are not familiar, the OBDII port is part of the stock harness and it remains, even after converted for stand alone use.
You can install the Jeeps senders in to the LS engine to make oil pressure and temp work, but that is straightforward.
Your tuner can turn off AC compressor control for example, for use of the factory system.
If you don't have a tuner and someone to do your harness, I had a great experience with Ken Wolkens. He converted my harness for a reasonable fee and has been instrumental in hunting down a few issues.
He used to work for GM in the drivetrain division as an EE. He knows his stuff very well. Ryan V. is his tuning partner. I highly recommend him, too.
send me an email and I'll give you their contact info.

Other items that don't work on my swap:
Cruise - brake switch input is through the BCM
DoD - brake switch input is through the BCM
Case Learn -brake switch input is through the BCM

I just pulled a couple of tune files down off hptuners tune repository to try this out. The bad news is the option to change the A/C request is not there for any of the FWD LS operating systems. I thought it was there for all the trucks, but it is only there for the P01/P59 operating systems which appear to be the f-body, 2004GTO, 1999-2004/5/6 trucks (Depending on exact model) and 2004 vette.

I did some more digging and kind of figured out a better guide for the vehicles/pcm`s that this will work for. GM put out a lot more PCM`s than I had realized. I have always swapped the 99-04 truck motors, but have some experience with the f-body PCM`s of that era also. https://www.efilive.com/gm-gas-vehicles Looks like any vehicle under the 99-07 LS1B pcm stream should work, but probably nothing else.
