Spare Tire Needed for the `99 Trans Am
Has anyone found and replaced their T135-60-16 spare tire? I'm find some sizes that are close but having trouble finding that exact size. That's tight quarters back there.
I have found a T135-70-16.... which if my math is right is another 27mm taller (top to bottom).

Tire rack sells a 125/70/16 22.9” tall vs 22.4” stock . 2.2% difference.

Those spare tires aren't cheap at all. I can find one that's close enough in size. It's almost twice as much to get a radial vs. bias ply which I can't imagine trying to limp home on one of those.

Odd, when considering the age of these cars, it’s not surprising to pay a small premium; so I never thought for a moment $132 was a lot of money… It’s only one tire after all.
I live in blissful ignorance, I go with no spare tire. I lean on the alternatives when a tire goes flat like tow truck or drive on the flat. I wouldn’t hesitate to destroy a wheel if I needed to get home if a tow truck wasn’t available. Just buy another wheel/tire. Life is to short to worry over a few hundred bucks.

Anyhow ....
When a had a blowout a few months ago and found that my 25 year spare wasn't any good - why would it be? .....it would have been nice to have had that spare and enabled me to get it home 2 hours earlier and a few hundred dollars cheaper. It's an 80 mile round trip to / from work and the spare tire location has no other purpose than having one there.

Looks like that 125/70/16 is currently out of stock, but I agree that $132 is no big deal for this as it should last at least 10 years if unused/minimal use. I wouldn't lose any sleep over that. Just wonder if it will actually come back in stock though, sometimes that estimated date just keeps getting pushed farther out.

The 125/70/16 is only 1/2 inch taller, I'd be more confident about its fitment in the well (unless you've already measured and are sure the bigger tire will fit).

So for the sake of documentation - I humbly admit that it didn't fit! Don't anyone make the same mistake as I. I don't see the 125/70/16 being a problem.

Sorry about the hassle, but thanks for reporting back as I'm sure it will help other folks. Does anyone else have the 125/70/16 in stock or is it backordered everywhere?
