Awd Lsx with skyline drivetrain?

Well I know this is an unusual question that will probably bring more questions then it answer and many haters as well but I m going to do it anyway. Well first I should say why awd? Well I live in a place where it snows often and I want that 3 second 0-60. Simple as that. Anyway, my neighbor is selling an old e34 bmw 325 with a bad timing belt for next to nothing. Next the kicker. My friend just did a build on an old 300zx which he used many skyline parts in. He said he could get me many of then from the guys he uses and probably even the whole drivetrain. Now the car I use doesn't really matter to me as long ad it's not a truck, but I figured the bmw could work and I can get it for next to nothing. Now what I was thinking is swap the entire skyline drivetrain into the bmw and lsx it. I know crazy right! What am I thinking.! Well lsx engines have been put into skylines before and people have found a way to mate an lsx to the skyline transmission and keep it awd. I know there is one part of the skyline that is in the sump of the rb(front diff I think) but they said there is a way around it. Anyway I would like some feed back on how to proceed with this idea. Should I change cars, engines, drivetrains? The main thing is that it is awd. Ohh and before you say just get am evo or sti or something with a turbo 4. No I have owned an many of those before and don't want another one. Sorry for the extremely long post! Thanks for your guys input!!!

On a skyline the transmission, oil pan and front diff are share integral castings.
They simply aren't seperate parts as with American vehicles.
Want AWD and an LS. Then swap an astro van, olds bravada or jeep ZJ

Skip to the last page of that thread. Looks like nothing legit happened.
Why not just put the ls in a skyline? Trying to slap it in a bmw seems like it would add little to the interestingness of the build but would add a ton to the work.
Will check back on this thread in 12 months. Best of luck though, will be cool if it happens.

The only reason I was asking about the bemer is because I get get it for dirt cheap and it is it great condition. Plus I would have to import an skyline and it is rhd and getting it legal it a pain in the ***. If there is another car that would work just as well then tell me. I just don't want a truck or SUV.

there was a 240 on here that had a ls swapped in asnd was making it awd, but it was a mess of parts and don't think it was ever finished, I don't remember what parts everything came from but think it was transfer case from some Cadillac, using ford explorer hubs on the front, and not sure what the front diff was, basically it was ridiculous and although I admire the effort pretty sure it was a waste of time as I never saw it finished, I would think the easiest awd lsx swap would be get a trailblazer ss, take the body off and put whatever car you want on it, ridiculous yes but the easiest and probably less of a headache way

Hate to say it but this is another "wouldn't this be great" thread. We get half a dozen "AWD LS" threads a year. I'm not sure what the fascination with AWD is but most threads that start with nothing more than that idea end up as all talk.
I can remember at least one skyline swap thread. A shop had one with a blown engine and was looking at an LS swap as a cheap way to get it off his hands. Skyline engines apparently aren't cheap. You might try a search on that. I think he got the swap done, can't remember any of the specifics.
Have to agree with the last poster. Start with an AWD car and work from there. Evo, subaru, hell even an old ford Escort or Toyota matrix. Toyota made AWD minivans, that isn't a truck or SUV.
A rear wheel drive BMW makes an excellent LS swap.

Here is the AWD Olds Cutlass that was in GM High Tech this month. Something else to consider. http://www.brianspdr.com/#!awd442cutlass/c1ck9
