I was trying to figure out what it looked like. A Prowler it is! And yes the arms are going lime green like the dash.

As far as the fenders go, they are going back on for sure! No rat rod for me. Sorry!

Actually, your first version looked really good to me if it had the round bar around the hood-point portion, and you had the screen colors matching the hood and front fenders respectively.

You were originally opposed to a front radiator. And you never planned on having a front bumper. So whatever color scheme you had in mind then, should work just as well now... IF your original color scheme had the portion of exposed body under the nose of the hood, between the fenders, the same color as the hood.

What I'm saying is, as long as the hood and the grill below it are the same color, I don't think it matters how the nose of the hood is shaped.

Cut monster piranhas teeth it and give your bug an overbite, it doesn't matter since it's all going to be flat black.

Yes I was and still am opposed to the front radiator. Look at all the problems it has caused! But there is no going back now. I actually really like the teeth idea. I will make some masking tape teeth tonight and see what it looks like.

Well today is the day I thought would never happen. My axles showed up! Now lets just hope they fit. After measuring them and comparing them to my order form, I just don't know how its going to work. The axles at there shortest equal the measurements I sent in (one end telescopes). I would have figured that they would have set the axles up in the center to my measurements. I guess we will see what happens tonight when I throw them on.

Also, trunk lid will be here on Tuesday and my sway bar setup should be here today. I finally feel like I am getting close to the end! After I test fit the axles, the rear of the car is coming apart! After I get the front sway bar in and mounted, the front of the car is coming apart. So excited!

they probably will work i know my measurements when sent to a company they had to account for a few other variables but worked how they were supposed to based on suspension geometry

Well I only got one axle in over the weekend. Still not too happy about the whole situation. Let just say if I didn't screw up on my original measurement, the axle would not have fit. So I am glad I screwed up. I will find out tonight if my other one will fit. And that is only if I can clean the splines up enough so that it slides in to my spindle. Yes you read that right, I have to clean up the splines on my "brand new" axles.

Enough about the axles.... I did end up getting my sway bar installed. I still need to make the end links and shorten the arms, but the bar itself is in. I thought I was going to have big issues with the tires hitting the sway bar arms, but I measured right! It still steers like a drift car!





I also decided I was going to start using my weight bench.... Maybe not in the correct way though.



You might also notice the Miata sitting outside. That is also receiving an Ecotec! Not my build though. I will be overseeing the whole thing and helping with the design.

What sort of clean up are you having to do to the splines? Degrease or deburr? Both are bullshit on a new custom part, but cleaning packing grease off the part is way more acceptable than having to touch up their machining.

Hopefully they fit and work perfectly and all this complaining turns out to be pointless.

David - I wish I had no reason to complain over the axles. But sadly I do. Luckily they do fit. I will post some pictures up in a few of what I am talking about. Still waiting on an answer from the shop that made them before I explode! I am not going to throw anyone under the bus until I get a final answer. If they are willing to work with me, then everything is good. If I get lies and excuses, so be it.

I did not read this whole thread, but I went back quite a few pages and didn't see anything. Are those the axles they sent you? Did you find junkyard axles and have them modified, because that is what it looks like they used. The pitting in the spline are alone would be enough to turn me off.

These are supposed to be 100% brand new, tip to tip. I was told that sand blasting them caused the pitting. I don't know about you, but that looks more like rust pitting. I am no expert though...

What is with that discolored ring near the ends of the splines? It looks like it sticks up in spots, like a ridge or burr, but it continues across multiple splines, visible in all three pictures (before and after cleaning).

I, personally, sir, would be pissed. Let us know how they handle this.

Axles are getting sent back. Hoping for a quick turn around. So far they are doing the right thing and in the end, if they do what they say, I will be somewhat happy. Good news is that both sides fit. So that means the car is finally getting taken apart!







Now that the back is empty, I can start making it look nice and not all hacked up.

Holy slick trunk lid. The trunk is still in the back, right? That's the hood/engine-cover, correct?

Or did I miss some major design discussion on the front cover? A very similar hood scoop incorporated into the front to feed air to the radiator would be awesome.

As it is now, that heat extraction vent will be hidden by your porsche 911 wing, right?

Good looking piece of fiberglass, though. And I am glad they are handling the axle situation well.

This is just going to be a standard trunk lid. It goes below the wing like a normal VW lid would. Front end hasn't changed yet. Its still ugly. But yes, my whale tale will cover up the extraction vents and should help create a low pressure zone to suck the hot air out.

More work done last night. I should be able to gut the rest of the interior tonight. But, like normal I am changing things up on the go. I am going to redo the steering column. It sits up too high and I need to add a cross brace on the cage. If I add the cross brace, the factory column will be right in the way. So now going with a billet aluminum column and a quick release hub. What is next to change?

You are right, there is not much left to change after the steering column. I still have to make my end links for the sway bar and mount those to the arms. I also have to make a steering rack extension to get rid of my bump steer (this was planned). Other then that, just more braces for the frame and lots of welding.

I honestly don't think I could fit a LS4 / F40 combo. Its probably 6 inches wider then my current setup. NO ROOM! I would prefer a LS7 and Medeola sequential transaxle!
