Default where to get a few swap parts?

im doing a LS1 swap into a 1966 gto.

i went with the dirty dingo conversion mounts.

im unsure what headers to purchase, which are the best fitting? ive seen a few that have to be clearance.. really would hate to do that on a $800+ set of headers.

how about a stand alone harness? i dont want to pay $1000 for the painless wiring one. arent there places that go through stock harness, and can be had 4-500? but where??

trans crossmemeber. modify a stock one or just buy one for the 4L60? if cheap enough, i would just buy a conversion piece. but again, from where?

I would send my stock harness to Bill at BP Automotive and get him to rewire it.

check with dynatech for the headers. I just bought a pair and they fit amazing in my mustang swap, the craftsmanship is awesome as well.

Take a peek at Dougs, in my estimation the tightest fit to the floor pan for ground clearance. You can do the harness yourself, it really is not that tough, just takes some time and patience. Look at www.lt1swaps.com for pinouts.

any feedback on the "best fitting" headers? i really have a hard time spending a bunch of money on headers that will need to be dimpled and bent to fit

It's really tough to say which headers fit the best because it all depends on the motor mount adapters being used. I used the Dirty dingo double D adapters on my swap, but I stuck with the stock F-body manifolds for the time being. You will also need to decide on an accessory drive kit. I have found that the holley kit fits our a-body the best since the kwik and dingo kits have the power steering pump mounted upside down from the factory positioning.
