Sonoma Towing with LS6 Hey all,
The LS6 swap into my 99 Sonoma has been running great so far (~2000 miles). Everything is functional except ABS at this point, but that will be worked out later. Reason for this post is I will be towing a camper this weekend that will probably be around 3100lbs but am currently running the stock timing and fuel from the 2003 Z06 and I assume towing was never considered for a vette tune. My question is whether or not I should play around with timing or other settings (I have HPTuners) or just rely on knock sensing to do the work? I don't plan on trying to break any land speed records and have considered lowering the torque management criteria to limit stress on the driveline, but am a bit apprehensive about playing with timing. Anyone here have experience with towing using an F-body or Vette tune?

I don't have a base vette tune, but I did haul a car trailer with my LS swap. I just figured my low octane table would work if it got into KR. Just drive like you have a brain, you know what I mean.

Just a follow-up...no issues to note during the 300 mile round trip this weekend! Only downside is I got just above 10 mpg running 65-70 mph. Didn't matter whether it was in 4th or 5th gear. Will likely just draft semi's at 60 mph in 4th gear in the future to save the trans. Truck started and stopped great! Just lots of wind resistance with the trailer behind.

Thats what I am talking about! I would imagine if you slowed down, you would have done a little better, but probably not much. Like you said, there is such a wind resistance difference between the 2, mpgs won't likely change by much.
